Nonparametric estimation in random sum models

open access: yesStatistica, 2013
Let X1,X2,…,XN be independent, identically distributed, non-negative, integervalued random variables and let N be a non-negative, integer-valued random variable independent of X1,X2,…,XN .

Weighted Sum of Correlated Lognormals: Convolution Integral Solution

open access: yes, 2011
Probability density function (pdf) for sum of n correlated lognormal variables is deducted as a special convolution integral. Pdf for weighted sums (where weights can be any real numbers) is also presented.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Comparing approximations for risk measures of sums of non-independent lognormal random variables. [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we consider different approximations for computing the distribution function or risk measures related to a sum of non-independent lognormal random variables.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

A Geometric Derivation of the Irwin-Hall Distribution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2017
The Irwin-Hall distribution is the distribution of the sum of a finite number of independent identically distributed uniform random variables on the unit interval.

The exact distribution of the sum of stable random variables

open access: yes, 2019
The exact distribution of the sum of any number of independent stable random variables is derived. The probability density function of the exact distribution turns out to be sum of two multivariate [Formula presented] functions.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Unimodality of the probability distribution of the extensive functional of samples of a random sequence

open access: yesСовременная математика: Фундаментальные направления
We establish a criterion for the unimodality of the probability distribution of a functional that is represented by the sum of a set of independent identically distributed random nonnegative variables \({\tilde x}_k\) with a random number of terms ...

Representations for Integral Functionals of Kernel Density Estimators

open access: yesAustrian Journal of Statistics, 2016
We establish a representation as a sum of independent random variables, plus a remainder term, for estimators of integral functionals of the density function, which have a certain simple structure.
