Efficient In‐Hardware Matrix–Vector Multiplication and Addition Exploiting Bilinearity of Schottky Barrier Transistors Processed on Industrial FDSOI

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tasks have stretched traditional hardware to its limits. In‐hardware computation is a novel approach that aims to run complex operations, such as matrix–vector multiplication, directly at the device level for increased efficiency.

Oxygen‐Driven Structural Reorganization by Trace Water Enabling Fast Li‐Ion Transport in a Pliable Solid Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Trace water is acting as a constructive mediator in 2LiCl–GaF3, markedly increasing ionic conductivity while reorganizing local coordination. Hydration creates localized Li+ solvation environments and partially dissociates ion pairs, enhancing Li‐ion mobility.

Formative Assessment in Higher Education

open access: yes
Assessment is a key driver in higher education. As summative assessment is high stakes students tend to focus on this aspect and, with various other constraints, overlook the importance of formative assessment.

Molecular Design Strategies for High‐Voltage Organic Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes molecular engineering strategies for high‐voltage organic cathode materials for Li‐ion batteries: (1) increase Li‐O coordination number (CN), (2) achieve a greater increase in aromaticity upon reduction (∆Aromaticity), and (3) add an electron‐withdrawing group (EWG), through a combined experimental and computational study on reported

Revisiting and Expanding Scriven's Fallacies About Formative and Summative Evaluation

open access: yesJournal of MultiDisciplinary Evaluation
This article outlines the origins of the formative and summative evaluation and then revisits Scriven’s claims about eight fallacies.  We add to seven further fallacies especially that there are such concepts as formative and summative assessment.

Linking DSC/TGA to Cell Levels: Energetics, Evolved Gases, and Thermal Safety of NMC811‐Graphite Micro‐Cell

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A bottom‐up, component‐resolved framework combining DSC/TGA, evolved gas analysis, and in situ XRD reveals how decomposition pathways control energy release in partial and micro‐cell configurations. Separator‐free assemblies are dominated by cathode‐O2${\rm O}_2$/anode‐Li reactions, while the separator restricts oxygen transport, reshapes the reaction ...

Do Tax Incentives for Farmland Leases Increase Farm Supply? Evidence From Iowa's Beginning Farmer Tax Credit

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In recent decades, agriculture has become increasingly concentrated through horizontal mergers and acquisitions via corporate entities, and policy makers are concerned this will be exacerbated by the aging population of farm operators. To reduce market concentration in agriculture, many states have enacted policies to entice new prospective ...

Learning with Peers in Higher Education: Exploring Strengths and Weaknesses of Formative Assessment

open access: yesTrends in Higher Education
Implementing formative assessment strategies represents a challenge for higher education institutions. As they are frequently adopted only to support summative assessment and final grading, this study aims to investigate the most effective formative ...

The Effectiveness of Summative Assessment in Work-Based Learning Practice

open access: yes, 2015
Summative assessment aims at providing measurement of student's understanding. It is argued that summative assessment is used for reporting and reviewing, besides providing an overall judgment of achievement.

Assessing Household Welfare in Response to Rising Food Prices in The Gambia

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines how rising food prices affected household welfare in The Gambia using nationally representative data from the 2015/16 Integrated Household Survey (IHS‐3). The analysis reflects household consumption behavior and market conditions prevailing during that period and provides a structural benchmark for understanding ...
