Using dot blot with immunochemical detection to evaluate global changes in SUMO-2/3 conjugation

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2012
Small ubiquitin-related modifier-2/3 (SUMO-2/3) is a member of the ubiquitin-like (Ubl) protein family. Conjugation of SUMO-2/3 to target proteins is influenced by various stress conditions and chemical inhibitors.

Regulation of Ebola virus VP40 matrix protein by SUMO [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
AbstractThe matrix protein of Ebola virus (EBOV) VP40 regulates viral budding, nucleocapsid recruitment, virus structure and stability, viral genome replication and transcription, and has an intrinsic ability to form virus-like particles. The elucidation of the regulation of VP40 functions is essential to identify mechanisms to inhibit viral ...

HDAC6 and USP9X Control Glutamine Metabolism by Stabilizing GS to Promote Glioblastoma Tumorigenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glioblastoma (GBM) growth relies on glutamine synthetase (GS), which is stabilized by histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) and deubiquitinated by ubiquitin‐specific peptidase 9, X‐linked (USP9X). HDAC6 promotes GS deacetylation, while USP9X removes its K48‐linked polyubiquitination, enhancing GS stability.

Traffic Reconstruction and Analysis of Natural Driving Behaviors at Unsignalized Intersections [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This paper explores the intricacies of traffic behavior at unsignalized intersections through the lens of a novel dataset, combining manual video data labeling and advanced traffic simulation in SUMO. This research involved recording traffic at various unsignalized intersections in Memphis, TN, during different times of the day. After manually labeling

Evaluating the Competency of a First-Order Ontology [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 8th International Conference on Knowledge Capture (K-CAP 2015). Palisades, NY. 2015, 2015
We report on the results of evaluating the competency of a first-order ontology for its use with automated theorem provers (ATPs). The evaluation follows the adaptation of the methodology based on competency questions (CQs) [Gr\"uninger&Fox,1995] to the framework of first-order logic, which is presented in [\'Alvez&Lucio&Rigau,2015], and is applied to ...

Activation of Kir4.1 Channels by 2‐D08 Promotes Myelin Repair in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multiple sclerosis causes myelin loss and neurological dysfunction. This study shows that 2‐D08, a small molecule targeting Kir4.1 channels, promotes OPCs differentiation via FYN tyrosine kinase phosphorylation and the FYN/MYRF pathway. It significantly improves myelin repair and motor deficits in EAE mice and marmosets, highlighting its potential as a

Molecular Characterization and Functional Localization of a Novel SUMOylation Gene in Oryza sativa

open access: yesBiology, 2021
Small ubiquitin-related modifier (SUMO) regulates the cellular function of diverse proteins through post-translational modifications. The current study defined a new homolog of SUMO genes in the rice genome and named it OsSUMO7. Putative protein analysis

Enhancing SUMO simulator for simulation based testing and validation of autonomous vehicles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Current autonomous vehicle (AV) simulators are built to provide large-scale testing required to prove capabilities under varied conditions in controlled, repeatable fashion. However, they have certain failings including the need for user expertise and complex inconvenient tutorials for customized scenario creation.

SUMOylation is a Translatable Target in Hypoxic MNPs Regulating Retinal Vasculopathy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During ischemic retinopathy/retinal vasculopathy, UBC9‐mediated SUMOylation in retinal macrophages enhances their pro‐angiogenic capacity via hypoxia‐induced SUMOylation of FUS at K327/K502. This modification suppresses FUS binding to the Vegfa mRNA 3’UTR, stabilizing transcripts and facilitating VEGFA production. Targeting UBC9 inhibition can serve as

A global S. cerevisiae small ubiquitin‐related modifier (SUMO) system interactome

open access: yesMolecular Systems Biology, 2013
The small ubiquitin‐related modifier (SUMO) system has been implicated in a number of biological functions, yet the individual components of the SUMO machinery involved in each of these activities were largely unknown.
