Ecosystem‐Centered Robot Design: Toward Ecoresorbable Sustainability Robots (ESRs)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Robots exploring natural ecosystems can support monitoring and conservation, but must adopt ecosystem‐centered design to avoid pollution, waste, and damage. This review proposes guidelines for co‐designing ecoresorbable sustainability robots (ESRs), uniting materials, robotics, and ecological contexts in a single framework.

Robotic Materials With Bioinspired Microstructures for High Sensitivity and Fast Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the review paper, design rationale and approaches for bioinspired sensors and actuators in robotics applications are presented. These bioinspired microstructure strategies implemented in both can improve the performance in several ways. Also, recent ideas and innovations that embed robotic materials with logic and computation with it are part of the

Assessing the Performance of Maize (Zea mays L.) as Trap Crops for the Management of Sunflower Broomrape (Orobanche cumana Wallr.)

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
Sunflower broomrape (Orobanche cumana Wallr.) is a weedy root parasite that causes huge damage to sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.). Trap crop can stimulate parasitic seed germination without attachment in trap crop, and it was considered as economic ...

Toric algebra of hypergraphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The edges of any hypergraph parametrize a monomial algebra called the edge subring of the hypergraph. We study presentation ideals of these edge subrings, and describe their generators in terms of balanced walks on hypergraphs.

Novel Antifungal Scaffold Targeting Tubulin Overcomes Sclerotinia Sclerotiorum Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Addressing pesticide resistance, novel chromone‐acylhydrazone hybrids targeting fungal tubulin are synthesized. Compound G24 potently inhibited S. sclerotiorum (EC50 = 0.21µg mL−1) and demonstrated enhanced field performance via microencapsulation, offering a sustainable strategy against resistance and for global food security.

Chromium Pollution and Mitigation in a Sunflower Farmland System

open access: yesAgronomy
Chromium is a major heavy metal pollutant that affects the health of both plants and animals. In this study, sunflower seedlings were treated with K2Cr7O4 containing 50, 100, and 250 mg of pure chromium per kilogram of soil.

Sunflower response to potassium fertilization and nutrient requirement estimation

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2018
Field experiments were conducted in oil and edible sunflower to study the effects of potassium (K) fertilization on achene yield and quality, and to estimate the nutrient internal efficiency (IE) and nutrient requirement in sunflower production.

Recent progress on sunflower broomrape research in China☆

open access: yesOilseeds and fats, crops and lipids, 2020
Broomrape (Orobanche cumana Wallr.) is a holoparasitic plant which parasites sunflower roots. The infected sunflower plants are smaller, have a reduced kernel/husk ratio and yield decreases dramatically.

Dynamics of germination stimulants dehydrocostus lactone and costunolide in the root exudates and extracts of sunflower

open access: yesPlant Signaling & Behavior, 2022
Orobanche cumana Wallr. (Orobanche cernua Loefl.) causes severe yield losses of confectionary sunflower in China. While germination of O. cumana is stimulated by sesquiterpene lactones (STLs) from host sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.).
