Computer Modeling and Simulation of Fruit Sunscald
International Journal of Image and Graphics, 2015Although the simulation of many kinds of natural phenomena has been studied in the field of computer simulation and graphics, the reproduction of natural fruit diseases processes has not received much attention. Sunscald is the representative of physiological diseases.

Materials for Potential Use in Sunscald Prevention
Arboriculture & Urban Forestry, 1983Sunscald is a major problem on many shade trees during winters when wide daily temperature fluctuations occur. Various protective materials were tested to determine their effectiveness in preventing rapid temperature changes under alternating sunny and shady conditions.

Sunscald is a physiological disorder causing, in warm climates, severe damages to green tissues. Earlier studies established the essential role of heat, light and chlorophyll in the development of the disorder. In the present work, the role of oxygen in the development of the injury was investigated.

Sunscald of Eastern White Pine, Pinus Strobus L.
Ecology, 1943Many eastern white pine trees (Pinus strobus L.) standing on the edge of cuttings often show dead strips of bark on their sun-exposed sides. In many cases the dead bark peels off, exposing the sapwood, or appears merely as a depressed discolored area. The injury apparently is seldom serious enough to kill the tree, but because of the exposed area and ...

Darkening of sunscald on apples in storage is a non-enzymatic and non-oxidative process
Postharvest Biology and Technology, 1991Lurie, S., Pesis, E. and Ben-Arie, R., 1991. Darkening of sunscald on apples in storage is a non-enzymatic and non-oxidative process. Postharuest BioL Technol., 1: 119-125. Various treatments were evaluated in attempts to delay or prevent the darkening of color which occurs on the sunscalded peel of apples (Malus domestica Borkh. cv.

SummaryRipening fruit of pepino (Solanum muricatum) are susceptible to sunscald. We studied the effects of the sun over 6 d in detached mature-green fruit of cultivars ‘Puzol’ (used in salads) and ‘Sweet Long’ (used in desserts) from a summer 2001 greenhouse crop in Valencia, Spain.
