Long-term variation in distribution of sunspot groups

open access: yes, 2004
We studied the relation between the distribution of sunspot groups and the Gleissberg cycle. As the magnetic field is related to the area of the sunspot groups, we used area-weighted sunspot group data.

ACLY‐Driven Metabolic Reprogramming Promotes Histone Acetylation and Inflammation‐Associated Fibrosis in Chronic Kidney Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a citrate–ACLY–H3K27ac metabolic–epigenetic axis driving inflammatory gene activation and kidney fibrosis, highlighting ACLY inhibition as a potential therapeutic strategy for chronic kidney disease (CKD). ABSTRACT The mechanisms by which metabolic stress drives epigenetic dysregulation and fibrosis in chronic kidney disease (CKD ...

Analyzing the Sequence of Phases Leading to the Formation of the Active Region 13664, with Potential Carrington-like Characteristics

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Several recurrent X-class flares from Active Region (AR) 13664 triggered a severe G5-class geomagnetic storm between 2024 May 10 and 11. The morphology and compactness of this AR closely resemble the AR responsible for the famous Carrington Event of 1859.

Sunspots sketches during the solar eclipses of 9th January and 29th December of 1777 in Mexico

open access: yesJournal of Space Weather and Space Climate, 2017
Two sunspot observations recorded by the Mexican Felipe de Zúñiga y Ontiveros have been revealed from a manuscript. One sunspot group was recorded on 9th January 1777 and four sunspot groups on 29th December 1777.

The Supergranular Pattern and the Stable Stages of Sunspot Groups [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1968
Assuming the sunspot area to evolve smoothly and the sunspot-group lifetime distribution to be a monotonous decreasing function one can easily conclude that the function N(S), determining the number of sunspot groups having the area S at this moment, must increase monotonously and smoothly with decreasing area S.

Retinal Vessel Segmentation: A Comprehensive Review From Classical Methods to Deep Learning Advances (1982–2025)

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Four decades of retinal vessel segmentation research (1982–2025) are synthesized, spanning classical image processing, machine learning, and deep learning paradigms. A meta‐analysis of 428 studies establishes a unified taxonomy and highlights performance trends, generalization capabilities, and clinical relevance.

Possible variations in sunspot groups before flaring activity during solar cycles \\ 23 and 24

open access: yes, 2017
We investigated the possible morphological variations observed in sunspot groups on the day before flaring activity occurred between January 1996 and November 2014.

The Growth and Decay of Individual Sunspots and Pores

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
An analysis of the photometric growth and decay rates of sunspots and pores was carried out. According to the Solar Dynamics Observatory/Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager data for the period 2010 May–2025 March, ≈3.5 × 10 ^5 sunspots and pores were ...

Histidine Supplementation Stabilizes Hearing and Vision and Improves Growth in HARS1‐Related Autosomal Recessive Disorder Associated With Usher‐Like Symptoms

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autosomal recessive HARS1‐related disorder (originally described as Usher syndrome type 3B) caused by a homozygous Y454S variant in the histidyl‐tRNA synthetase gene (HARS1) is characterized by progressive sensorineural hearing and vision loss and respiratory deterioration with risk for sudden death following febrile illnesses.

Latitude Migration of Sunspot Groups

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2001
Characteristics of latitude migration of sunspot groups in the northern and southern hemispheres are investigated by using the Royal Greenwich Observatory data set from the years 1874 through 1999. Latitude migration of sunspot groups is found to be represented by a binomial formula, which quantitatively describes the law.
