Reconstruction of the Sunspot Group Number: The Backbone Method [PDF]
We have reconstructed the sunspot group count, not by comparisons with other reconstructions and correcting those where they were deemed to be deficient, but by a re-assessment of original sources. The resulting series is a pure solar index and does not rely on input from other proxies, e.g.

The relative sunspot number is one of the major parameters for the study of long-term solar activity. The automatic calculation of the relative sunspot number is more stable and accurate as compared to manual methods.

Abstract The complex evolutionary history behind modern mammalian chewing performance and hearing function is a result of several changes in the entire skeletomuscular system of the skull and lower jaw. Lately, exciting multifunctional 3D analytical methods and kinematic simulations of feeding functions in both modern and fossil mammals and their ...

Chlorella vulgaris biorefineries: sustainable biofuels and high‐value carbon capture
Abstract Global reliance on fossil fuels has created urgent economic and environmental challenges, yet large‐scale use of algal biomass remains limited by production costs. Industrial scaling is constrained by inefficient harvesting and the technical challenges of processing recalcitrant cell walls.

Three populations of hair cells have a distinct expression of Calb1 and Calb2. (A, A′D) The central is highly positive for Calb1 while surrounding HC are positive for Calb2. Later, a calyx forms primarily with Calb1. (B, B′, D′, D″) Saccule and utricle start out positive for Calb2 but will upregulate the Calb1 in the striola that is primarily forming ...

We investigate the properties of two types of solar active regions: the small short-living groups (SSGs) and the large long-living groups (LLGs). The combined distribution of areas of active regions is bimodal. When deconvolved, the distributions of each

Genetic epilepsies with myoclonic seizures: Mechanisms and syndromes
Abstract Genetic epilepsy with myoclonic seizures encompasses a heterogeneous spectrum of conditions, ranging from benign and self‐limiting forms to severe, progressive disorders. While their causes are diverse, a significant proportion stems from genetic abnormalities.

On the periodic variations of geomagnetic activity indices Ap and ap [PDF]
Yearly averages of geomagnetic activity indices Ap for the years 1967–1984 are compared to the respective averages of ν2·Bs, where v is the solar wind velocity and Bs is the southward interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) component.

The prevalence of diabetic retinopathy was estimated to be 28.3% (95% CI 21.1–35.4), with most of the cases corresponding to mild non‐proliferative diabetic retinopathy. ABSTRACT Background Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes and the leading cause of irreversible blindness in people of working age.

Time evolution of fine structures of a main sunspot in the SD108 and SD284 groups [PDF]
Photoheliograms taken at the Pamir Mountain Station (spatial resolution 0.3 arcsec) centered on 650 nm with a 40 nm bandwidth are used to obtain a standardized sequence of images for the dynamical study of some umbra and penumbra details of the main ...
