Study on Malfunction of OCR Due to Penetration of DER into Power Distribution System with SFCL
Due to the demand for eco-friendly energy, distributed energy resources (DERs) using renewable energy have increased. The increase in DER has caused the power system to become more complex and caused problems in the protection system.

Influences of superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) on superconducting generator in one-machine double-line system [PDF]
Analysis of superconducting generator in single machine double-line infinite-bus transmission system equipped with SFCL's has been performed by use of EMTDC/PSCAD. When some faults occur in one transmission line, the SFCL in the fault line operates and then the peak fault current can be limited to expected value by use of a function of the SFCL ...

First Russian 220 kV Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL) For Application in City Grid
The superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) for a nominal voltage of 220 kV and a rated current of 1200 A was developed by SuperOx company to be applied in high voltage substation in Moscow, Russia. The device is a three-phase dead-tank apparatus and is equipped with a closed-cycle cryocooling system.

The optimal placement of a resistive‐type superconducting fault current limiter (RSFCL) to achieve good power system transient stability is proposed. Procedure fault analysis is applied to consider the magnitude of the short‐circuit currents and the line located close to the generator for the placement of the device.

This paper puts forward a new optimization framework to deal with the optimal coordination of the protection devices and optimal allocation of the DGs and the protection devices simultaneously. To such aim, it is important to reflect the coordination between protection devices in the total objective function.
