Mid-infrared supercontinuum source and evanescent wave spectroscopy based on multiple tapered sections of a singleoptical chalcogenide glass rod [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2023
Mid-infrared supercontinuum sources are particularly important for identifying and characterizing molecules and materials through spectroscopy, thus enabling key applications.

Supercontinuum Generation from Airy-Gaussian Pulses in Photonic Crystal Fiber with Three Zero-Dispersion Points

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
The supercontinuum generation and manipulation of Airy-Gaussian pulses in a photonic crystal fiber with three zero-dispersion points are studied using the split-step Fourier method. Firstly, the spectral evolution of Airy-Gaussian pulses in four photonic

Supercontinuum generation: introduction

open access: yesJournal of the Optical Society of America B, 2019
The article collection in this feature issue presents the most recent experimental and numerical studies of supercontinuum generation in bulk nonlinear media, photonic crystal fibers, and waveguides. It also introduces new results of design and fabrication of these structures with engineered dispersion, development of new diagnostic tools, as well as ...

Coherent, directional supercontinuum generation

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2017
We demonstrate a novel approach to producing coherent, directional supercontinuum and cascaded dispersive waves using dispersion engineering in waveguides. By pumping in the normal group-velocity dispersion (GVD) regime, with two zero-GVD points to one side of the pump, pulse compression of the first dispersive wave generated in the anomalous GVD ...

Compact supercontinuum source for the visible using gain-switched Ti:Sapphire laser as pump [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2006
We demonstrate the use of a miniature gain-switched Ti:Sapphire laser for efficient generation of visible supercontinuum light in a highly nonlinear microstructured optical fiber.

1.6-Octave Coherent OAM Supercontinuum Generation in As2S3 Photonic Crystal Fiber

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
We design and simulate an all-normal dispersion arsenic trisulfide (As2S3) photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with high nonlinearity to enable a flat and coherent orbital angular momentum (OAM) supercontinuum (SC) generation.

Tunable Ultraviolet Second Harmonics Generation Pumped by Supercontinuum Laser

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
This paper presents the first systematic study on second harmonics generation based on a supercontinuum source. We analyzed the effect of the supercontinuum beam diameter and the crystal length to generate second harmonics.

Supercontinuum generation with optical vortices

open access: yesOptics Express, 2010
We employ an optical vortex beam for the generation of femtosecond supercontinuum in a solid state medium. We demonstrate that the continuum generation process is initiated by the filamentation of the vortex, resulting in a spatially divergent continuum. Despite the strong self-focusing and the formation of multiple hot-spots along the vortex ring, the

Supercontinuum generation in an on-chip silica waveguide [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2014
Supercontinuum generation is demonstrated in an on-chip silica spiral waveguide by launching 180 fs pulses from an optical parametric oscillator at the center wavelength of 1330 nm. With a coupled pulse energy of 2.17 nJ, the broadest spectrum in the fundamental TM mode extends from 936 to 1888 nm (162 THz) at -50  dB from peak.

Supercontinuum Generation in Media with Sign‐Alternated Dispersion [PDF]

open access: yesLaser & Photonics Reviews, 2020
AbstractWhen an ultrafast optical pulse with high intensity propagates through transparent material a supercontinuum can be coherently generated by self‐phase modulation, which is essential to many photonic applications in fibers and integrated waveguides.
