Impact of dyke and vegetation on fluid force and moment reduction under sub and supercritical flow conditions

The Physics of Fluids
Flooding is the most common natural disaster throughout the world and requires efficient management. Therefore, the current investigation aimed to explore the impact of a composite defense system comprising dyke and vegetation on flow dynamics and ...

Supercritical Flow in Rectangular Expansions

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1972
In recent years, the occasions for design of channels to contain supercritical flow have increased considerably. A need has developed for a method of predicting the physical characteristics of such flow based on theory. Use has been made of the analogy between supersonic gas flow and supercritical fluid flow to apply the method of characteristics ...

Modeling of coupled wellbore-reservoir flow in steam-like supercritical geothermal systems

, 2020
The capabilities to efficiently model the transport of mass and heat in geothermal reservoirs at supercritical conditions are necessary to support the efforts to explore and utilize supercritical hydrothermal systems, as well as to extend the utilization

Supercritical flow past symmetrical airfoils

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1982
A numerical method is developed for computing steady supercritical flow about an ellipse at zero angle of attack. The flow is assumed to be two-dimensional, inviscid, isentropic and irrotational. The free-stream Mach number lies in the high subsonic range so that a shock wave occurs locally near the body.

Supercritical Flow Over Sills

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1976
Experimental investigations have been carried out to study the supercritical flow over a square section sill for all flow situations, except the jump condition. The supercritical flow has been categorized into two distinct types depending upon the ratio of the sill height to upstream depth and the Froude number.

Vortex Drop Shaft for Supercritical Flow

2009
Vortex drop shafts are used in urban drainage systems to connect two sewers located at considerably different elevations by means of a vertical conduit. The vortex drop shaft was first designed by Drioli (1947). It was then studied by other authors with reference to subcritical approach flow.

Bedload resistance in supercritical flow

International Journal of Sediment Research, 2009
Abstract The movement of bedload in subcritical flow produces additional roughness as compared to flow in a rigid bed. The magnitude of this bed load roughness is proportional to the thickness of the sediment layer moving along the bed, the particle size and the sediment concentration.
