Supercritical Flow over Sills

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1972
A conformal mapping solution for irrotational gravity-free flow is modified to determine an expression for the drag on continuous and dentated sills. The effect of gravity is partially accounted for by the inclusion of the upstream hydrostatic force in the momentum equations.

Supercritical Flow in Bend Manhole

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 2000
Supercritical flow in a bend manhole for combined sewer systems is considered for a typical relative curvature and deflection angles of 45° and 90°. The typical features of bend flow in a U-shaped channel are determined, including the surface profiles along the inner and the outer bend walls, impact flow at the manhole outlet into the downstream sewer ...

RELAXATION FACTORS FOR SUPERCRITICAL FLOWS

AIAA Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference, 1973
Relaxation procedures for solution of steady supercritical transonic flows are investigated. Von Neumann (Fourier-mode) stability analysis is used to find bounds of relaxation factors. The bounds depend on local Mach number and local mesh aspect ratio. Long wave instability of Murman-Cole implicit method is indicated. Two new relaxation procedures are

Supercritical Flow Past Bodies

1990
We are now going to study the problem of uniform flow past a body; this is the viscoelastic analogue of the exterior problem of aerodynamics. Two typical problems are uniform flow past a body or steady motion of a body in a fluid at rest. These two problems are equivalent because of Galilean invariance.

Supercritical Flow in Density Currents

SEPM Journal of Sedimentary Research, 1974
Experiments with saline currents show that most flow phenomena and sedimentary structures characteristic of supercritical flow in open channels can be duplicated with density underflows. Antidunes, breaking antidunes, and chutes-and-pools formed spontaneously on an erodible bed at densiometric Froude numbers greater than 1.0.

Supercritical Flow Synthesis of TiO2

2014
A new, up-scaled supercritical flow synthesis apparatus has been constructed in Aarhus. A module based system allows for a range of parameter studies with improved parameter control. The dual-reactor setup enables both single phase and core-shell nanoparticle synthesis.

Flow Resistance in High Velocity Supercritical Flows

1993
On large chutes and spillways air is entrained through the free surface. When the air reaches the shear layers close to the invert the air bubbles interact with the turbulence mechanisms and induce drag reduction. This reduction of the friction factor was first described by WOOD (1983) using model data.
