Numerical analysis of flow and conjugate heat transfer for supercritical CO2 and liquid sodium in square microchannels

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
A numerical analysis of the developing laminar flow and conjugate heat transfer in a rectangular micro-channel was performed for supercritical CO2 and liquid sodium as working fluids for better understanding of the flow and heat transfer mechanisms ...

Unsteady Airloads in Supercritical Transonic Flows

AIAA Journal, 1979
Results obtained from a simplified theory of unsteady perturbations of supercritical two-dimensional transonic flows, introduced in an earlier paper, are presented. Unsteady loads generated by an oscillating flap and by airfoils oscillating as a whole are given with comparisons to experimental results and finite difference solutions.

Flow and heat transfer of supercritical CO2 in the honeycomb ultra-compact plate heat exchanger

Journal of Supercritical Fluids, 2019
The honeycomb Ultra-compact Plate Heat Exchanger (UCPHE) with hexagonal channels is proposed to be the recuperator in the supercritical CO2 (SCO2) Brayton cycle.

Supercritical rotating flow over topography

Physics of Fluids, 2009
The flow of a one-and-a-half layer Boussinesq fluid over an obstacle of nondimensional height M, relative to the lower layer depth, is investigated in the presence of rotation, the magnitude of which is measured by a nondimensional parameter B (inverse Burger number). The supercritical regime in which the Froude number F, the ratio of the flow speed to

Effect of internal helical-rib roughness on mixed convection flow and heat transfer in heated horizontal pipe flow of supercritical water

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
Horizontal flow of supercritical fluids is very common in industrial facilities involving heat transfer. The serious inhomogeneity in the thermal field remains as one of the major concerns need to be addressed in horizontal supercritical flow.

Magnetohydrodynamic supercritical Taylor-Couette flows

Physics Letters A, 1980
Abstract Supercritical Taylor-Couette flows submitted to a constant axial magnetic field are treated by a Stuart-type approach. The influence of the conductivity of the cylinders is studied. Theoretical results are in excellent agreement with experiment.

Numerical investigation on drag coefficient and flow characteristics of two biomass spherical particles in supercritical water

Renewable Energy, 2019
Supercritical water fluidized bed (SCWFB) is a novel reactor which can achieve efficient and clean gasification of biomass. The study of supercritical water (SCW)-solid two-phase flow characteristics in SCWFB is of great significance for biomass ...

Numerical investigation of heat transfer and flow characteristics of supercritical CO2 in U-duct

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2018
The present study investigated the heat transfer and flow characteristics of supercritical CO2 in U-ducts by numerical simulations. Analyses focused on the effect of the turn geometry and the gravity direction on the flow field and temperature field of ...

Experiments to supercritical junction flow

Experiments in Fluids, 1995
Supercritical flow at channel junctions is characterised by a distinct standing wave pattern. This paper aims at describing its features and defining the main dimensions of three waves. Wave C is a junction wave located at the rear of the junction point and may be compared with the wave due to an abrupt wall deflection.
