Knockout of Rlim Results in a Sex Ratio Shift toward Males but Superovulation Cannot Compensate for the Reduced Litter Size

open access: yesAnimals, 2023
Technologies that can preselect offspring gender hold great promise for improving farm animal productivity and preventing human sex-related hereditary diseases.

Multiple superovulations in N'Dama heifers

open access: yesTropical Animal Health and Production, 1990
Five N'Dama heifers were superovulated with follicle stimulating hormone (FSH-P or Folltropin) a total of six times each. The superovulations were carried out between ongoing experimental Trypanosoma congolense infections. Twenty-four (80%) of the 30 superovulations had a good ovarian response with 21 (70%) producing an average of 2.7 +/- 0.4 (mean +/-

Equine models in translational medicine: A comparative approach to human health

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 9, Issue 5, Page 898-913, May 2026.
This diagram summarizes and contrasts rodent and equine models, outlining their strengths, limitations, and applications. Horses offer naturally occurring diseases, genetic and physiological similarities to humans, and suitability for longitudinal and clinical‐scale studies.

Development of Recombinant Follicle-Stimulating Hormone for the Superovulation of Cattle: A Review. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Sci
Embryo transfer technology is extensively utilized in cattle breeding, with superovulation serving as its foundation. Superovulation currently relies on the administration of exogenous hormones to stimulate follicular development and maturation in the ...

Recipient maternal genotypes improved the litter size components of a paternal line involved in a MOET programme in rabbits

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2022
An essential factor in the success of multiple ovulation and embryo transfer programmes (MOET) in any species is the selection of the recipient females. In rabbit there is a notable lack of studies on the effects of recipient genotype on postnatal growth.

Recent advances in the superovulation in cattle [PDF]

open access: yesReproduction Nutrition Development, 2002
The variability in the superovulatory response continues to be one of the most frustrating problems with embryo transfer in cattle. The removal of LH from pituitary extracts has tended to reduce the variability in response, and several studies involving the use of the purified porcine pituitary extract. Folltropin-V are reviewed.

Handmade Biopsy for Genotyping of In Vitro‐Produced Bovine Embryos

open access: yesAnatomia, Histologia, Embryologia, Volume 55, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Blastocyst biopsy allows genomic selection of pre‐implantation bovine embryos, reducing generation interval and enhancing the genetic gain. We aimed to evaluate the suitability of a simple biopsy procedure, performed by hands, using a splitting microblade and a stereoscope, on in vitro‐produced embryos. Crossbred Bos taurus x B.

COITAL BLOCK TO SUPEROVULATION IN THE HAMSTER [PDF]

open access: yesReproduction, 1963
Summary. Hamsters injected with 60 i.u. pregnant mares' serum (pms) on the morning of metoestrus (Day 1 of oestrous cycle) will ovulate sixty to seventy ova if they are isolated from males. However, if similarly treated females are caged with males on Day 2 or 3, coitus takes place and the inactive corpora lutea of the oestrous cycle ...

The Effect of Glyphosate on Ovarian Tissue and in Vitro Maturation in Superovulated Mice [PDF]

open access: yesMajallah-i dānishgāh-i ̒ulūm-i pizishkī-i Arāk
Introduction: Glyphosate is the most popular broad-spectrum herbicide globally due to the growing demand for glyphosate-resistant crops. Glyphosate exhibits harmful properties, including cytotoxicity, neurotoxicity, and reproductive toxicity.
