1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl and superoxide anion radical scavenging 1 activities of heterocyclic 2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidines [PDF]
To investigate1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and superoxide radical (SOR) 17 scavenging activities of 2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidines derivatives. Free radicals are 18 highly unstable and reactive molecules/atoms. In the body, free radicals form during 19 normal and abnormal metabolism in the body and cause serious damage to other 20 ...

Structural Comparisons of Superoxide Dismutases [PDF]
The amino‐terminal sequences of superoxide dismutase isolated from seven microorganisms have been determined. These include the first sequences of enzyme from anaerobic phototrophes. Five enzymes contain iron and two manganese. The enzymes are all related to each other but not to the Cu/Zn family of superoxide dismutases.

Superoxide dismutase 1 (Sod1) has been known for nearly half a century for catalysis of superoxide to hydrogen peroxide. Here we report a new Sod1 function in oxidative signalling: in response to elevated endogenous and exogenous reactive oxygen species (

Folding of Cu, Zn superoxide dismutase and Familial Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis [PDF]
Cu,Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD1) has been implicated in the familial form of the neurodegenerative disease Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). It has been suggested that mutant mediated SOD1 misfolding/aggregation is an integral part of the pathology of ALS.

Progress and Application of Multifunctional Hydrogel in Radioactive Skin Injury
This review examines healing challenges in radiation‐wound injuries, where ionizing radiation impairs immune and tissue repair processes. Hydrogels, with their biocompatibility, antimicrobial properties, and drug delivery capabilities, present a transformative solution. It compares hydrogel efficacy in radiation‐induced versus common wounds, highlights

Magnetic particle spectroscopy and imaging represent promising tools, particularly when combined with manganese‐ferrite nanoparticles as versatile theranostic agents. Adjusting the manganese content allows for simultaneous multi‐color tracer detection and reactive oxygen species sensing via magnetic particle spectroscopy and imaging, creating new ...

RNAlater facilitates remote sampling of aquaculture Atlantic salmon liver for proteomic analysis
Graphical Abstract Proteomes of similar sizes were obtained in samples preserved by snap‐freezing or RNAlater. Proteins involved in transcriptional and translational machinery were affected in RNAlater stored samples. Abundance of published markers for heat and oxidative stress was not affected by snap‐freezing or RNAlater.

SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE IN BARLEY [PDF]
Superoxide dismutese occurs in barley where it can be measured using a xanthine oxidase assay, but not using an assay based on the reduction of Nitro Blue Tetrazolium by photo-reduced riboflavin. Three isozymes are present in the grain: two are cyanide-sensitive and one, of lower activity, is not.
