Functionalized Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles Enhance Penetration into Melanoma Spheroids In Vivo through Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Melanoma cell spheroid engraftment is optimized in the chicken chorioallantoic membrane overcoming the complexity of other in vivo models. Using this model, greater penetration of cerium oxide nanoparticles (nanoceria) functionalized with heparin in spheroids is observed via enhancement of vascularization than nanoceria alone.

Superoxide dismutases: I. Occurrence in higher plants.

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1977
Shoots, roots, and seeds of corn (Zea mays L., cv. Michigan 500), oats (Avena sativa L., cv. Au Sable), and peas (Pisum sativum L., cv. Wando) were analyzed for their superoxide dismutase content using a photochemical assay system consisting of ...

Tri‐Layered Bioactive Cutaneous Scaffold with Integrated Bioactive Metal Organic Frameworks to Promote Full‐Thickness Infected Diabetic Wound Healing: Multifaceted Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The limitations of existing clinical treatments highlight the need for a more comprehensive strategy for addressing infected diabetic wounds. A tri‐layered scaffold is developed to deliver therapeutics loaded in CuBDC and ZIF‐8 MOFs that are tailored to the requirements of deep‐infected diabetic wounds.

APPLICATION OF PERFTORAN AND RECOMBINANT SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE IN COMPLEX TREATMENT OF ENTERAL INSUFFICIENCY IN PATIENTS WITH ACUTE INTESTINAL OBSTRUCTION

open access: yesКреативная хирургия и онкология, 2017
The effectiveness of perftoran and recombinant superoxide dismutase in complex post-operative therapy in patients with acute intestinal obstruction was investigated. All patients (two groups) were combined.

Effect of ELF e.m. fields on metalloprotein redox-active sites [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
The peculiarity of the distribution and geometry of metallic ions in enzymes pushed us to set the hypothesis that metallic ions in active-site act like tiny antennas able to pick up very feeble e.m. signals. Enzymatic activity of Cu2+, Zn2+ Superoxide Dismutase (SOD1) and Fe2+ Xanthine Oxidase (XO) has been studied, following in vitro generation and ...

Radical pairs and superoxide amplification can explain magnetic field effects on planarian regeneration [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Weak magnetic field exposure can affect many biological processes across a wide range of living organisms. Recently, it has been observed that weak magnetic fields can modulate reactive oxygen species (ROS) concentration, affecting regeneration in planaria.

Advancements in Carbon‐Based Piezoelectric Materials: Mechanism, Classification, and Applications in Energy Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon‐based piezoelectric materials are systematically categorized based on their structural and functional properties. The mechanisms of stress‐induced charge transfer are elucidated, and their applications are explored across three key domains: piezoelectric catalysis for energy conversion and environmental remediation, piezoelectric biomedical ...

5,6,7,8-tetrahydroneopterin (NH4) Acts like an Endogenous Superoxide Dismutase

open access: yesPteridines, 1996
The protective effect of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydroneopterin (NH.) against radiation injury in mice was studied. (C57BL/6x A/J)F1 mice received whole body irradiation with a single fatal dose of 8.0 Gy X-ray.

Superoxide reductase from Desulfoarculus baarsii: reaction mechanism and role of glutamate 47 and lysine 48 in catalysis [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemistry, American Chemical Society, 2001, pp.5032-40, 2015
Superoxide reductase (SOR) is a small metalloenzyme that catalyzes reduction of O(2)(*)(-) to H(2)O(2) and thus provides an antioxidant mechanism against superoxide radicals. Its active site contains an unusual mononuclear ferrous center, which is very efficient during electron transfer to O(2)(*)(-) [Lombard, M., Fontecave, M., Touati, D., and Nivi ...
