Lysosome‐Acidifying Nanoparticles Rescue A30P α‐Synuclein Induced Neuronal Death in Cellular and Drosophila Models of Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Lysosome‐targeted acidic nanoparticles based on a biodegradable poly(ethylene tetrafluorosuccinate‐co‐succinate) copolymer are engineered to restore impaired lysosomal acidification through pH‐responsive intracellular degradation. Localized acid release enhances autophagic proteolysis, reduces α‐synuclein accumulation, and preserves dopaminergic neuron

Prevention of cisplatin-induced hearing loss in children: achievements and challenges for evidence-based implementation of sodium Thiosulfate

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
Ototoxicity is a devastating direct, irreversible side effect of platinum use in children with cancer, with its consequent effect on speech, language and social development, quality of life and adult productivity. Cisplatin, an essential chemotherapeutic

Antioxidants as supplements during drug-induced thrombocytopenia: a comparative analysis of Vanillic acid, L-carnitine and Caripill™ [PDF]

open access: yesThe Ukrainian Biochemical Journal
Drug-induced thrombocytopenia (DIT) is a disorder where platelet count declines as an adverse effect of therapeutic drugs. Plant extract of C. papaya Caripill™ is known to elevate platelet count under thrombocytopenic conditions.

Biomimetic Copper Nanoparticles Coated with ACE2‐Overexpressing Membranes for Selective SARS‐CoV‐2 Neutralization and Disinfection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
By fusing ACE2‐overexpressing membrane‐integrated liposome (MIL) with copper nanoparticles, the biomimetic Cu@MIL nanostructures were created that directly hijack the SARS‐CoV‐2 entry pathway. These particles combine potent virus‐targeting precision with intrinsic antiviral activity, achieving rapid neutralization and disinfection.

Effects of salinity on the transcriptome of growing maize leaf cells point at cell-age specificity in the involvement of the antioxidative response in cell growth restriction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
BACKGROUND: Salinity inhibits growth and development of most plants. The response to salinity is complex and varies between plant organs and stages of development. It involves challenges of ion toxicities and deficiencies as well as osmotic and oxidative

Designed Liquid Crystalline Nanoassemblies From Clinically Validated Polyunsaturated Lipids for Combined Antioxidant, Anti‐Apoptotic, and Neurotrophic Treatments

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Ionizable lipid nanoparticles target multiple pathological pathways in neurodegeneration. The designed self‐assembled materials undergo a pH‐triggered structural transformation from a cubosome/hexosome coexistence to a hexosome phase, enhancing intracellular delivery of a multi‐target phytochemical formulation. The antioxidant‐loaded pH‐responsive LNPs

Blocked dihydropteridines as nitric oxide synthase activators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
It has been shown that 6-acetyl-7,7-dimethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropteridin-4(3H)-one can act as a competent cofactor for the production of nitric oxide by neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS).
