Jumping spectra and vanishing couplings in heterotic Line Bundle Standard Models
We study two aspects of the physics of heterotic Line Bundle Standard Models on smooth Calabi-Yau threefolds. First, we investigate to what degree modern moduli stabilization scenarios can affect the standard model spectrum in such compactifications ...

Universal Thermal Instabilities and the High-Temperature Phase of the N=4 Superstrings [PDF]
Using the properties of gauged N=4 supergravity, we show that it is possible to derive a universal thermal effective potential that describes all possible high-temperature instabilities of the known N=4 superstrings.

Amplitudes on plane waves from ambitwistor strings
In marked contrast to conventional string theory, ambitwistor strings remain solvable worldsheet theories when coupled to curved background fields. We use this fact to consider the quantization of ambitwistor strings on plane wave metric and plane wave ...

Momumentum Analyticity and Finiteness of Compactified String Amplitudes, Part I: Tori
We generalize to the case of compactified superstrings a construction given previously for critical superstrings of finite one loop amplitudes that are well-defined for all external momenta.

Compactification of D=11 supergravity on spaces of exceptional holonomy
We investigate the compactification of D=11 supergravity to D=5,4,3, on compact manifolds of holonomy $SU(3)$ (Calabi-Yau), $G_2$, and $Spin(7)$, respectively, making use of examples of the latter two cases found recently by Joyce. In each case the lower

Recent developments involving strongly coupled superstrings are discussed from a phenomenological point of view. In particular, strongly coupled $E_8\times E'_8$ is described as an appropriate long-wavelength limit of M-theory, and some generic ...

Spin-Statistics Violations in Superstring Theory
I describe how superstring theory may violate spin-statistics in an experimentally observable manner. Reviewing the basics of superstring interactions and how to utilize these to produce a statistical phase, I then apply these ideas to two specific ...

Rounding out the story of higher derivative consistent truncations
At the two-derivative order, the group manifold reduction of heterotic supergravity on S 3 results in a half-maximal 7D gauged supergravity coupled to three vector multiplets, and a further truncation can be taken to remove the vector multiplets.
