The 4D Kerr geometry displays many wonderful relations with quantum world and, in particular, with superstring theory. The lightlike structure of fields near the Kerr singular ring is similar to the structure of Sen solution for a closed heterotic string.

Heterotic sigma models on T 8 and the Borcherds automorphic form Φ12
We consider the spectrum of BPS states of the heterotic sigma model with (0, 8) supersymmetry and T 8 target, as well as its second-quantized counterpart.

The tree-level string effective action is known to contain quartic Riemann terms with coefficient ζ(3)α′3. In the case of the type II string this is the first α′ correction.

Dark Dimension With (Little) Strings Attached
Abstract A relation between dark energy and the scale of new physics in weakly coupled string theory is motivated. This mixing between infrared and ultraviolet physics leads to a unique corner for real‐world phenomenology: barring fine‐tunings, the authors are naturally led to the “dark dimension” scenario, a single mesoscopic extra dimension of micron

The birth of string theory: Introduction and synopsis [PDF]
This is a draft of the introduction to the collective volume "The birth of string theory" (CUP, 2012), including the book's index and preface. The book explores the history of the theory’s early stages of development, as told by its main protagonists. It

Fundamental Superstrings as Holograms [PDF]
46 pages, JHEP style. v2: Comments, references addedThe worldsheet of a macroscopic fundamental superstring in the Green-Schwarz light-cone gauge is viewed as a possible boundary hologram of the near horizon region of a small black string. For toroidally

Abstract S. Gukov and C. Vafa proposed a characterization of rational N=(1,1)$N=(1,1)$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) in 1+1$1+1$ dimensions with Ricci‐flat Kähler target spaces in terms of the Hodge structure of the target space, extending an earlier observation by G. Moore.

On ℛ4 Terms and MHV Amplitudes in 𝒩 = 5,6 Supergravity Vacua of Type II Superstrings
We compute one‐loop threshold corrections to ℛ4 terms in 𝒩 = 5,6 supergravity vacua of Type II superstrings. We then discuss nonperturbative corrections generated by asymmetric D‐brane instantons. Finally we derive generating functions for MHV amplitudes at tree level in 𝒩 = 5,6 supergravities.

Automorphisms and twisted vertex operators [PDF]
This work is an examination of various aspects of twisted vertex operator representations of Kac-Moody algebras. It starts with an introduction to Kac-Moody algebras and string theories, including a discussion of the propagation of strings on orbifolds ...

Superstrings in Four Dimensions [PDF]
All of the work presented in this thesis evolved from the initial idea that strings, if they are to make sense, ought to exist in four spacetime dimensions.
