KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Making the case for supervised injecting facilities.

open access: yes, 2018
Tony Duffin speaks about how he, and his colleagues, lobbied for a change in Irish law to allow for the existence of Supervised Injecting Facilities.

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

A Taxonomy for Semi-Supervised Learning Methods [PDF]

open access: yes
We propose a simple taxonomy of probabilistic graphical models for the semi-supervised learning problem. We give some broad classes of algorithms for each of the families and point to specific realizations in the literature.

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Overview of international literature - supervised injecting facilities & drug consumption rooms - Issue 1. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This Overview of International Literature collates what we understand to be a full list of the relevant published papers and reports on drug consumption rooms (DCRs) and supervised injecting facilities (SIFs) internationally.

Local semi-supervised regression for single-image super-resolution

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, we propose a local semi-supervised learning-based algorithm for single-image super-resolution. Different from most of example-based algorithms, the information of test patches is considered during learning local regression functions which ...

A social institution supervisor’s professional establishment

open access: yesStudia Humanitatis, 2016
The article covers the problem of а social sphere supervisor’s professional establishment. It is proven that professionalconsciousness (professional self-conception) includes one's image about themselves as a member of a professional community.
