Evidence of X-mode heating suppressing O-mode heating

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Physics, 2020
In this study, we present three experiments carried out at the EISCAT (European Incoherent Scatter Scientific Association) heating facility on October 29 and 30, 2015.

Collective enhancement and suppression in Bose-Einstein condensates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The coherent and collective nature of Bose-Einstein condensate can enhance or suppress physical processes. Bosonic stimulation enhances scattering in already occupied states which leads to atom amplification, and the suppression of dissipation leads to superfluidity.

Thermal Upsilon(1s) and chi_b1 suppression in sqrt(s_NN)=2.76 TeV Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.Lett.107:132301,2011, 2011
I compute the thermal suppression of the Upsilon(1s) and chi_b1 states in sqrt(s_NN)=2.76 TeV Pb-Pb collisions. Using the suppression of each of these states I estimate the total R_AA for the Upsilon(1s) state as a function of centrality, rapidity, and transverse momentum. I find less suppression of the chi_b1 state than would be traditionally assumed;

Suppressed Belief

open access: yesTHEORIA, 2009
Moran's revised conception of conscious belief requires us to reconceptualise suppressed belief. The work of Merleau-Ponty offers a way to do this. His account of motor-skills allows us to understand suppressed beliefs as pre-reflective ways of dealing with the world.

Sustained suppression [PDF]

open access: yesNature Biomedical Engineering, 2020
Further COVID-19 outbreaks are unavoidable. To detect and suppress them, governments ought to implement a range of public health measures aided by technology.

Influence of Atmosphere Near-Surface Layer Properties on Development of Cloud Convection

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
A two-dimensional mathematical model of moist air convection in the sub-cloud and cloud layers is proposed. A theoretical analysis of the influence of near ground atmospheric parameters on the development of sub-cloud and cloud convection is provided ...

Evaluation of native Trichoderma isolates for the management of sugarcane smut (Ustilago scitaminea) in sugar plantations of Ethiopia

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture, 2021
Biological control of sugarcane smut (Ustilago scitaminea Syd.) using Trichoderma isolates is one of the untapped potentials in Ethiopian sugarcane plantations.

Passive Self-Interference Suppression for Full-Duplex Infrastructure Nodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Recent research results have demonstrated the feasibility of full-duplex wireless communication for short-range links. Although the focus of the previous works has been active cancellation of the self-interference signal, a majority of the overall self-interference suppression is often due to passive suppression, i.e., isolation of the transmit and ...

Upsilon suppression in PbPb collisions at the LHC [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. C 87, 024911 (2013), 2012
We suggest that the combined effect of screening, gluon-induced dissociation, collisional damping, and reduced feed-down explains most of the sequential suppression of Upsilon(nS) states that has been observed in PbPb relative to pp collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 2.76 TeV.

Adenosine generation catalyzed by CD39 and CD73 expressed on regulatory T cells mediates immune suppression

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 2007
The study of T regulatory cells (T reg cells) has been limited by the lack of specific surface markers and an inability to define mechanisms of suppression.
