Homeomorphisms of a surface which act trivially on homology [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1979
Let M \mathfrak {M} be the mapping class group of a surface of ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

The interactive effects of extrinsic and intrinsic motivations on service recovery performance: the mediating role of self-efficacy

open access: yesTourism & Management Studies, 2023
In recent decades, interest has grown in understanding the mechanisms of service recovery performance (SRP) in the hospitality industry. This study introduces an interactive perspective incorporating both extrinsic and intrinsic factors, investigating ...

Do Emotional Laborers Help the Needy More or Less? The Mediating Role of Sympathy in the Effect of Emotional Dissonance on Prosocial Behavior

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2019
Despite the growing body of research on emotional labor, little has been known about the social consequences of emotional labor. Drawing on emotional dissonance theory, the authors investigate the relationship between the felt emotional dissonance and ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The Effect of Emotional Labor on Psychological Well-Being in the Context of South Korean Firefighters: The Moderating Role of Transformational Leadership

open access: yesBehavioral Sciences
Drawing on insights from the conservation of resources theory and the job demands–resources theory, our study investigates the association between two types of emotional labor—surface and deep acting—and the psychological well-being of firefighters.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

DUYGULARIN YÖNETİLMESİNİN, İŞ TATMİNİ VE DUYGUSAL TÜKENMİŞLİK DÜZEYİ ÜZERİNE ETKİLERİ

open access: yesMehmet Akif Ersoy Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Dergisi, 2016
Duygusal emek, bireyin işini yaparken kendisinden beklenilen duyguları sergilemesidir. Gerçekte hissedilen duygular ve bireyden beklenilen duygular arasındaki çatışma ortaya duygusal uyumsuzluk, çıkmasına neden olmaktadır.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Finite 3-groups acting on bordered surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesGlasgow Mathematical Journal, 1998
Let G be a finite group. The real genus p(G) [8] is the minimum algebraic genus of any compact bordered Klein surface on which G acts. There are now several results about the real genus parameter. The groups with real genus p ≤ 5 have been classified [8,9,12], and genus formulas have been obtained for several classes of groups [8,9,10,11,12].
