Characteristics of Spring Sea Surface Currents near the Pearl River Estuary Observed by a Three-Station High-Frequency Surface Wave Radar System

open access: yesRemote Sensing
The processes of ocean dynamics are complex near the Pearl River Estuary and are not clear due to a lack of abundant observations. The spatial characteristics of the spring sea surface currents in the adjacent waters of the Pearl River Estuary were ...

DESIGN OF A 2.45 GHZ COMPACT WEARABLE ANTENNA FOR WIRELESS BODY AREA NETWORKS AND INDUSTRIAL WIRELESS APPLICATIONS [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings on Engineering Sciences
This paper presents designing and optimizing a compact wearable antenna in Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) and Industrial Wireless Applications. The antenna is specifically developed to operate at a frequency of 2.45GHz, which is commonly used in ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Investigation on the dynamics of gravity-driven coastal currents [PDF]

open access: yes
Numerical simulations of buoyant, gravity-driven coastal plumes are summarized and compared to the inviscid geostrophic theory of Thomas & Linden (2007) and to laboratory studies for plumes owing along a vertical-wall coastline (those of Thomas ...

Marine reservoir variation in the Bismarck region: an evaluation of spatial and temporal change in ∆R and R over the last 3000 years [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Interactions between islands, ocean currents, and winds cause large-scale eddies and upwelling in the lee of islands that can result in spatial variation in the marine radiocarbon reservoir.

Seasonal to Interannual Cross‐Scale Energy Transfer Variability: Observational Insight From the Santa Barbara Channel

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Kinetic energy (KE) transfer between spatial scales contributes to the ocean's energy budget by linking scales of KE supply and KE dissipation. Numerical simulations have indicated that for scales smaller than the baroclinic deformation radius, cross ...

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Assessment of satellite and ground-based estimates of surface currents

open access: yes, 2016
Estimation of surface currents still presents a challenge. In this work validates surface current estimates from the Maximum Cross Correlation (MCC) method, that uses spaceborne radiometer data, against ground-based retrievals from a High Frequency (HF ...

Tracking Pelagia noctiluca scyphomedusae by combining modeling and stable isotope approaches

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
True jellyfish (Cnidaria, Scyphozoa) often appear in large aggregations along the coasts, where they interfere with human activities (tourism, fisheries, power plants).
