Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Analytical and experimental studies of thermionically emitting electrodes in contact with dense, seeded plasmas [PDF]
Interactions are considered between a moving, alkali-metal seeded, dense plasma and a metallic electrode whose surface properties are influenced by the absorption of seed particles. The plasma behavior is governed by a set of differential equations,

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Tracking Pelagia noctiluca scyphomedusae by combining modeling and stable isotope approaches
True jellyfish (Cnidaria, Scyphozoa) often appear in large aggregations along the coasts, where they interfere with human activities (tourism, fisheries, power plants).

On the Optimal Design of Doppler Scatterometers
Pencil-beam Doppler scatterometers are a promising remote sensing tool for measuring ocean vector winds and currents from space. While several point designs exist in the literature, these designs have been constrained by the hardware they inherited, and ...

Persistent currents in carbon nanotubes
Persistent currents driven by a static magnetic flux parallel to the carbon nanotube axis are investigated. Owing to the hexagonal symmetry of graphene the Fermi contour expected for a 2D-lattice reduces to two points. However the electron or hole doping

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

The Effect of Wind Forcing on Modeling Coastal Circulation at a Marine Renewable Test Site
The hydrodynamic circulation in estuaries is primarily driven by tides, river inflows and surface winds. While tidal and river data can be quite easily obtained for input to hydrodynamic models, sourcing accurate surface wind data is problematic ...
