Study of the effect of tribo-materials and surface finish on the lubricant performance of new halogen-free room temperature ionic liquids

open access: yes, 2016
The present work evaluates different materials and surface finish in the presence of newly designed, hydrophobic halogen-free room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) as lubricants.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Development of an automatic surface finishing system (ASFS) with in-process surface topography inspection

open access: yes, 2010
This paper describes an automated surface finishing system (ASFS) with in-process surface topography inspection. The acquired surface topography feedback is used to calculate the surface error and to generate the finishing paths for each level of surface

Influence of abrasive passes on surface roughness evolution of selected engineering materials under fixed AFM conditions

open access: yesDiscover Materials
This study investigates surface roughness evolution during abrasive flow machining (AFM) of four commonly used engineering materials mild steel, brass, copper, and aluminium under a fixed experimental window comprising a single abrasive size (65 μm SiC),

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

On the Surface Finish-Metal Removal Relationship in Precision Grinding

open access: yes, 1973
A semiempirical equation representing the average chip thickness existing during grinding is presented. The scatter of surface finish data obtained using high and low wheel-speeds and wheel-work conformities, fine and coarse dressing procedures and ...
