Problem-oriented model of the technological process of surface induction hardening

open access: yesВестник Самарского государственного технического университета. Серия: Технические науки, 2022
The paper presents a nonlinear two-dimensional numerical model of the temperature and thermal stress fields within a steel billet of complex geometric shape in the surface induction hardening process.

Loading Surface in the Course of Mechanical- Thermal Treatment and Steady-State Creep of Metals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
: Kinetics of the loading surface of a material gives precious information on the level of the hardening of the material. This paper is concerned with the evolution of the loading surface during successive actions, such as: (i) plastic deformation, (ii)

A viscoplasticity model with an enhanced control of the yield surface distortion

open access: yes, 2012
A new model of metal viscoplasticity, which takes combined isotropic, kinematic, and distortional hardening into account, is presented. The basic modeling assumptions are illustrated using a new two-dimensional rheological analogy.

Characterising gross plastic deformation in design by analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
An investigation of three simple structures is conducted to identify and characterise the condition of gross plastic deformation in pressure vessel design by analysis.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Study on the Machined Surface Quality in High Speed Turning High Strength Steel under Cryogenic Minimum Quantity Lubrication

open access: yesJournal of Harbin University of Science and Technology, 2019
Based on process parameter optimization results, the influence laws and reasons of different cutting environments and cutting parameters(cutting speed, feed), process parameter (jet temperature, cutting oil amount) under cryogenic minimum quantity ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Damage of the Surface Layer Gears in Grinding Process. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The influence of the grinding process on the condition of the surface layer (SL) obtained by the treatment of the gear with grinding wheels Al2O3, CBN, GF, SG, alloy steels with different parameters of the grinding process and the type of cooling liquid –

Anisotropic behaviour law for sheets used in stamping: A comparative study of steel and aluminium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
For a car manufacturer, reducing the weight of vehicles is an obvious aim. Replacing steel by aluminium moves towards that goal. Unfortunately, aluminium's stamping numerical simulation results are not yet as reliable as those of steel.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...
