Variations in the Norwegian coastal current off Arendal during 1975 and 1976 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Comparison between mean monthly freshwater discharges to Skagerrak, surface salinity and computed geostrophical volume transport through two sections off Arendal indicates a connection between variations in freshwater discharges and volume transports in ...

The Benguela Niño 1995 observed in Angolan waters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
During the cruise by R/V ''Dr. Fridtjof Nansen" in February-March 1995, we observed that the upper ocean layers were very warm and brackish. Comparing with a similar cruise performed in 1994, the water temperature was up to 8°C warmer, and the salinity ...

Holistic Mapping of the Present-day Martian Seasonal CO2 Frost. I. Frost Detection within Global Visible, Thermal, and Spectral Data Sets

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
A dominant driver of Martian atmospheric, landscape, and landform activity is the annual cycle of CO _2 and water, seasonally moving between atmospheric gases and surface frost.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
