Surface Nanocrystallization of Pure Ni Induced by Ultrasonic Shot Peening

Science of Advanced Materials, 2014
Peening is mainly used as a method of surface treatment for microstructural modification in order to improve surface mechanical properties. The ultrasonic shot peening (USP) technique can cause severe plastic deformation with its high strain rate on the surface of metallic parts.

The Refinement of the pearlite on Surface nanocrystallization of medium steel

2011 International Conference on Remote Sensing, Environment and Transportation Engineering, 2011
Nanocrystalline surface layer was fabricated on a 45 steel by using Surface mechanical treatment. The microstructure features of various sections in the surface layer were characterized by using transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The Refinement process of the pearlite was analyzed.

Surface nanocrystallization of C45E4 steel by ultrafast electropulsing-ultrasonic surface treatment

Journal of Wuhan University of Technology-Mater. Sci. Ed., 2017
The effect of high-energy electropulsing-ultrasonic surface treatment (EUST) on the surface properties and the microstructure evolution of C45E4 steel was investigated. Refined microstructure and reduced surface roughness were obtained owing to the surface nanocrystallization process.

Research on Surface Nanocrystallization of Surfacing Layer by Pre-loading Rolling Technology

Integrated Ferroelectrics, 2015
The surface microstructure of the surfacing layer was optimized by refining the coarse grains to nanocrystalline by means of pre-loading rolling treatment(PLRT). By using of field emission scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscopy observations, the microstructural features in the treated surfacing layer were characterized, and ...

Characterization of the Mechanical Properties of Surface Nanocrystallized Materials

2011
Recrystallization of the grain structure of metals into nano-sized grains by using mechanical means, has received wide attention in the last two decades. It is well known that materials with a fine-grain crystal structure have favorable properties compared to the same materials with course-grained crystal structure.

Long distance chemical gradient induced by surface nanocrystallization

Applied Materials Today, 2019
Abstract Natural structures are wonderful examples of what can be done with a fairly limited selection of resources. Natural structures have this feature due to their complex architecture, gradient chemical compositions and microstructure. Inspired by nature, many attempts have been made to manufacture man-made materials with similar gradients (e.g ...

Simulation for surface self-nanocrystallization under shot peening

Acta Mechanica Sinica, 2003
Driven by high frequency and multi-directional shot peens, dislocations of various orientations proliferate into the metal, and accumulate in high density in the surface layer of a shallow depth. Migration, generation and annihilation of dislocations dictate the evolution of mobile dislocation density.

Effect of surface nanocrystallization on the corrosion behavior of Zircaloy-4

Science in China Series E: Technological Sciences, 2009
The contrastive corrosion experiments between surface nanocrystallined Zircaloy-4 and coarse-grained Zircaloy-4 under the condition of 673 K/10.3 MPa in pure water are carried out, and the microstructure of oxide films has been studied. The results indicate that the growth rate of oxide films formed on the nanocrystalline Zircaloy-4 is lower than that ...
