Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Evaluation of the surface roughness of a nanofilled composite resin submitted to different smoothing and finishing techniques

open access: yesRevista de Odontologia da UNESP
Introduction: Controlling the surface smoothness characteristics of the composite resin when performing a direct restorative technique is one of the factors involved in achieving restorative success.

A new kind of helicoidal surface of value m [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We define a new kind of helicoidal surface of value m. A rotational surface which is isometric to the helicoidal surface of value m is revealed. In addition, we calculate some differential geometric properties of the helicoidal surface of value 3 in three dimensional Euclidean space.

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

Evaluation of surface physical properties of acrylic resins for provisional prosthesis

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2008
Acrylic resins used for provisional prostheses should have satisfactory superficial characteristics in order to ensure gingival health and low bacterial attachment.

Surfaces and fronts with harmonic-mean curvature one in hyperbolic three-space [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2005
We investigate surfaces with constant harmonic-mean curvature one (HMC-1 surfaces) in hyperbolic three-space. We allow them to have certain kinds of singularities, and discuss some global properties. As well as flat surfaces and surfaces with constant mean curvature one (CMC-1 surfaces), HMC-1 surfaces belong to a certain class of Weingarten surfaces ...

Unlocking the potential of tumor‐derived DNA in urine for cancer detection: methodological challenges and opportunities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Ruled Surfaces in Three Dimensional Lie Groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Motivated by a number of recent investigations, we define and investigate the various properties of the ruled surfaces depend on three dimensional Lie groups with a bi-variant metric. We give useful results involving the characterizations of these ruled surfaces.

Surfaces of revolution of frontals in the Euclidean space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
For Legendre curves, we consider surfaces of revolution of frontals. The surface of revolution of a frontal can be considered as a framed base surface. We give the curvatures and basic invariants for surfaces of revolution by using the curvatures of Legendre curves. Moreover, we give properties of surfaces of revolution with singularities and cones.
