Expressions of the radius and the surface tension of surface of tension in terms of the pressure distribution for nanoscale liquid threads

open access: yes, 2013
The expressions of the radius and the surface tension of surface of tension Rs and γs in terms of the pressure distribution for nanoscale liquid threads are of great importance for molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of the interfacial phenomena of ...

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Design of an automated tension infiltrometer for unsaturated hydraulic conductivity measurement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A tension infiltrometer for field use, where both water level changes measurement and tension settings could be automated, was built in-house. Differential pressure transducers were used to automate the water level measurement in the reservoir.

Oscillating sessile liquid marble - A tool to assess effective surface tension

open access: yes, 2021
A long-standing problem of liquid-marble based technology is the inconsistency of the effective surface tension values. This inconsistency could be due to particle size, particle type, volume of the liquid marble or the preparation method. The prevailing

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Surface Tension-Driven Micro Actuator to Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAVS)

open access: yes, 2014
This paper describes a novel micro actuator that adopts surface tension as the driving force. The concept, design, and fabrication were discussed in this work. This device regards a SU-8 peacock-like microstructure as the prototype.

The effects of surface tension on the elastic properties of nano structures

open access: yes, 2010
In the absence of external loading, surface tension will induce a residual stress field in the bulk of nano structures. However, in the prediction of mechanical properties of nano structures, the elastic response of the bulk is usually described by ...
