Adjustment of Coatings Morphology and Particle Distribution of Layered Silicates by Freeze‐Drying for Improved Gas Barriers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...

Surfactant uptake dynamics in mammalian cells elucidated with quantitative coherent anti-stokes Raman scattering microspectroscopy.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
The mechanism of surfactant-induced cell lysis has been studied with quantitative coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microspectroscopy. The dynamics of surfactant molecules as well as intracellular biomolecules in living Chinese Hamster Lung ...

Ultrasonic Atomization Spray Coating of PCL on an Mg‐Based Alloy Enhanced by Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation for Improved Adhesion, Corrosion Resistance, and Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Plasma electrolytic oxidation is combined with ultrasonic spray deposition of polycaprolactone (PCL) on WE43 magnesium alloy to improve adhesion, corrosion resistance, and cytocompatibility. The hybrid coating demonstrates significantly reduced hydrogen evolution and enhances mechanical bonding, offering a promising strategy for next‐generation ...

Kinetics of Surfactant Micellization: a Free Energy Approach

open access: yes, 2010
We present a new theoretical approach to the kinetics of micelle formation in surfactant solutions, in which the various stages of aggregation are treated as constrained paths on a single free-energy landscape.

Charge frustration in complex fluids and in electronic systems

open access: yes, 1996
The idea of charge frustration is applied to describe the properties of such diverse physical systems as oil-water-surfactant mixtures and metal-ammonia solutions.

Highly Stable Low‐Temperature Phosphate Glass as a Platform for Multimaterial 3D Printing of Integrated Functional Microfluidic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A highly stable, low‐temperature phosphate glass is developed for multimaterial additive manufacturing of multifunctional microfluidics. Glass, metal conductors, and sacrificial polymer are coprinted, enabling monolithic fabrication. The sacrificial paste forms precise channels and decomposes during sintering.

Shear and longitudinal viscosity of non-ionic C12E8 aqueous solutions

open access: yes, 2006
We present measurements of the steady shear viscosity, the longitudinal elastic modulus and the ultrasonic absorption in the one-phase isotropic liquid region of the nonionic surfactant C12E8 aqueous solutions. The overall results support the presence of
