Surgical castration efficiently delays the time of starting a systemic chemotherapy in castration-resistant prostate cancer patients refractory to initial androgen-deprivation therapy

open access: yesProstate International, 2015
Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of surgical castration, particularly delaying the time to entrance of systemic chemotherapy, in castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) patients who were refractory to initial ...

Effect of short-term fattening period and castration method on productivity, serum testosterone, and economic efficacy in Hanwoo cattle

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Technology, 2023
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of castration method and short-term fattening periods on Hanwoo cattle. Thirty-two Hanwoo calves (average body weight: 148.4 ± 19.8 kg) were used.

ANXA2‐mediated Phagocytosis Generates AR+ Macrophages to Confer Enzalutamide Resistance in Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel resistance mechanism is mediated through phagocytosis of cancer cells by AR+ TAMs. This process, dependent on ANXA2, enables macrophages to acquire AR protein from engulfed tumor cells. The internalized AR translocates into the macrophage nucleus, where it binds directly to the IL‐6 promoter, augmenting IL‐6 transcription and secretion ...

A Non‐Canonical Core Transcriptional Regulatory Circuit Orchestrates Chromatin Reprogramming to Drive Osimertinib Resistance in Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A non‐canonical core transcriptional regulatory circuit, composed of ID3, SMAD3, and NR2F2, drives Osimertinib resistance in non‐small cell lung cancer through super‐enhancer‐mediated activation of EPAS1, which couples neuroendocrine differentiation with ferroptosis evasion.

Targeting KDM3B Elicits Anti‐tumor Immunity by Alleviating SHP1–mediated STING Suppression in Triple–Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
P3FI–90 treatment targets KDM3B, reshapes the epigenetic landscape, and suppresses SHP1 expression, thereby activating STING–TBK1–IRF3–type I IFN signaling pathway. Consequently, CD8+ T cells are recruited to the tumor site and activated to produce IFN–γ and GZMB, leading to the killing of TNBC cells.

Local anesthesia in piglets undergoing castration-A comparative study to investigate the analgesic effects of four local anesthetics on the basis of acute physiological responses and limb movements.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Surgical castration of male piglets without analgesia is a painful procedure. This prospective, randomized and double-blinded study aimed to evaluate the analgesic effects of four different local anesthetics for piglet castration during the first week of

Reproduction of dogs in the tropics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Dog overpopulation is considered a serious problem in developing countries and a threat to human health. To be successfully implemented, official dog control measures have to be in accordance with regional beliefs and practices of an area.

Heat Shock Protein 90: From Molecular Chaperone Function to Therapeutic Targeting in Malignancies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this review, an integrated conceptual framework linking HSP90's molecular chaperone functions to its pathological roles in cancer is proposed. HSP90 serves as a central node that integrates oncogenic signaling, buffers proteotoxic stress, maintains cancer stem cell plasticity, and shapes tumor‐immune interactions, all of which converge to drive ...

Cholesterol‐Mediated Metabolic‐mechanotransductive Crosstalk Orchestrates Castration Resistance in Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Full androgen deprivation (FAD) induces paracrine cholesterol in prostate cancer that drives the polarization of cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and subsequent elevated matrix stiffness. Matrix stiffness in turn potentiates tumor cell survival under FAD pressure via dual mechanotransductive activation of the IRE1α‐XBP1s stress‐response axis ...
