Genetic Associations of Functional Longevity With Sexual Precocity and Growth Traits in Nellore Beef Cattle

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Volume 143, Issue 6, Page 821-833, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Functional longevity (FL) is a complex trait that integrates many attributes directly contributing to the successful retention and productivity of a cow within the herd. Consequently, improving FL in beef cattle increases herd profitability. This study aimed to estimate the genetic associations between two alternative FL definitions and traits

Genetic Evaluation for Functional Longevity in Nellore Cattle

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Volume 143, Issue 6, Page 834-845, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Stayability (STAY) presents limitations in capturing genetic variability among animals with varying calving records up to 76 months of age. Furthermore, because STAY is measured late in life (typically at 6 years of age), it inherently prolongs generation intervals.

Beta‐Arrestin‐2 Binds to Nucleolar Organizing Regions With P2X7 Receptor Stimulation and During Cell Division

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 19, 15 October 2026.
Beta‐Arrestin‐2 but not Beta‐Arrestin‐1 can accumulate in the nucleolus and come in close contact with the Nucleolar Organizing Regions during two distinct processes: P2X7 receptor stimulation (A) and cell division (B). Both seem to be due to loss of nuclear membrane barrier that keeps Beta‐arrestin‐2 out of the nucleus.

Estrogen Receptor Beta Isoforms Interplay Integrates Nuclear and Extra‐Nuclear Signaling to Modulate Human Granulosa Cell Growth

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 19, 15 October 2026.
Working model of ERβ isoform signaling in human granulosa cells. Upon E2 binding, ERβ1 activates ERE‐dependent transcription and represses AP‐1 activity through Jun/Fos interactions. In contrast, ERβ2, ERβ4, and ERβ5 lack E2 binding and ERE activity but promote AP‐1‐dependent transcription and counteract ERβ1 repression, including after phosphorylation
