In the development and evaluation of mechanical ventilation on the basis of high‐frequency oscillation, appropriate surrogates of the lung are important, because they allow the measurement and control of various parameters which are not accessible in animal models.

The extracellular domain of human c-Mpl, the receptor for thrombopoietin (TPO), was expressed as a chimeric protein with the interleukin-2 receptor alpha chain on the surface of murine B cell-line B300-19. BALB/c mice were immunized with cells expressing the chimeric protein.

SURROGATE-BASED HYPOTHESIS TEST WITHOUT SURROGATES
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2004Fourier surrogate data are artificially generated time series, that — based on a resampling scheme — share the linear properties with an observed time series. In this paper we study a statistical surrogate hypothesis test to detect deviations from a linear Gaussian process with respect to asymmetry in time (Q-statistic).

A surrogate constraint is an inequality implied by the constraints of an integer program, and designed to capture useful information that cannot be extracted from the parent constraints individually but is nevertheless a consequence of their conjunction.

Large digital libraries often index articles without curating their digital copies in their own repositories. Examples include the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) and ACM Digital Library. Full text view generally requires subscription to libraries that host the contents.

Surrogate Mathematical Programming
Operations Research, 1970This paper presents an approach, similar to penalty functions, for solving arbitrary mathematical programs. The surrogate mathematical program is a lesser constrained problem that, in some cases, may be solved with dynamic programming. The paper deals with the theoretical development of this surrogate approach.

The authority of surrogates-often close family members-to make treatment decisions for previously capacitated patients is said to come from their knowledge of the patient, which they are to draw on as they exercise substituted judgment on the patient's behalf.

Evaluating surrogate endpoints
Controlled Clinical Trials, 2002The validation of surrogate endpoints has been studied by Prentice, who presented a definition as well as a set of criteria that are equivalent if the surrogate and true endpoints are binary. Freedman et al. supplemented these criteria with the so-called proportion explained.
