A Heuristic Approach for Surrogate Modelling of Electro-Technical Systems

open access: yes
The optimization of designs of electro-technical systems often is based on expensive calculations (i.e., simulation models). To cut down the cost, surrogate models are constructed from and then used in place of simulations.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Groundwater Pollution Source Identification via an Integrated Surrogate Model and Multiobjective Heuristic Optimization Algorithms

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Simulation‐optimization methods are commonly used in groundwater pollution source identification. Traditional simulation‐optimization methods require multiple calls to the numerical model, which leads to a considerable computational burden.

Physics-Based AI-Driven Surrogate Modeling for Structural Displacement Prediction in Mechanical Systems With Limited Sensor Data

open access: yesIEEE Access
This study introduces a machine learning (ML)-based surrogate model for finite element analysis, designed to predict structural strain distributions using a minimal number of strategically placed virtual sensors.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Research on Surrogate Model of Dam Structural Behavior for Multi‐Output Problem

open access: yesEngineering Reports
The establishment efficiency of the surrogate model is often affected by the multi‐output problem during the establishment process. It is an urgent issue to solve how to establish a multi‐output joint surrogate model more quickly while ensuring a certain

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have
