Hygrothermal response of masonry facades with vapour-tight or capillary-active internal insulation under current and future climate scenarios

open access: yesBuilt Heritage
Interior thermal insulation has been widely used to improve energy efficiency and indoor comfort of historic buildings. However, traditional vapour-tight insulation materials strongly influence the hygrothermal behaviour of facades, which may lead to ...

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

“Spongetown” Christiania as an urban living lab: Nature-based solutions for resilient, circular, symbiotic, and regenerative transitions in urban waters

open access: yesNature-Based Solutions
Rising sea levels and stormwater flooding threaten coastal ecosystems like wetlands, exacerbating urban sustainability challenges. Urban Living Labs and NBS propose decentralised, community-driven approaches emphasising resilience, circularity, symbiosis,

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Towards Sustainable Building Design [PDF]

open access: yesDesign Principles and Practices: An International Journal—Annual Review, 2009
Work recently undertaken at the University of Strathclyde, Department of Architecture, is concerned with the articulation of a management system that might support sustainable design. Aligned with the international standard ISO 14001, a system has been piloted in housing development projects around Glasgow, and offers a supporting framework for the ...

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.
