Comparison of DNA Extraction Methods forSweet Corn and Processed Sweet Corns

DNA was extracted from sweet corn and its processed products using four DNA extraction methods: the CTAB method, the DNeasy Plant Maxi kit, GM Quicker 3, and Genomic-tip 20/G. DNA was successfully extracted from raw sweet corn and baby corn samples using all four methods.

Abstract 'Trucker's Favorite' sweet corn was planted on May 29 near Benson, NC. Single-row plots 20-ft long were replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design with 5 -ft alleys between replications. One maintenance spray combining Sevin and Lannate was made prior to start of test.

Abstract A small-plot field experiment was conducted to screen insecticides for control of ear damage by the corn earworm. Corn was planted 4 May in an Appling loamy coarse sand. The experiment was a randomized complete block design with 2-row plots, 20 ft long, 38 inches wide, with 5-ft alleys, replicated 5 times.
