Local formation of nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond by swift heavy ions

open access: yes, 2014
We exposed nitrogen-implanted diamonds to beams of swift uranium and gold ions (~1 GeV) and find that these irradiations lead directly to the formation of nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers, without thermal annealing.

Methods and results of an automatic analysis of a complete sample of Swift-XRT observations of GRBs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present a homogeneous X-ray analysis of all 318 gamma-ray bursts detected by the X-ray telescope (XRT) on the Swift satellite up to 2008 July 23; this represents the largest sample of X-ray GRB data published to date.

Infrared Thermography in Wound Care, Surgery, and Sports Medicine: A Review

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2022
For many years, the role of thermometry was limited to systemic (core body temperature) measurements (e.g., pulmonary catheter) or its approximation using skin/mucosa (e.g., axillary, oral, or rectal) temperature measurements.

Where are the missing gamma ray burst redshifts?

open access: yes, 2008
In the redshift range z = 0-1, the gamma ray burst (GRB) redshift distribution should increase rapidly because of increasing differential volume sizes and strong evolution in the star formation rate.

Extension of PAR Models under Local All-Sky Conditions to Different Climatic Zones

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Four models for predicting Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) were obtained through MultiLinear Regression (MLR) and an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based on 10 meteorological indices previously selected from a feature selection algorithm.

Swift J053041.9-665426, a new Be/X-ray binary pulsar in the Large Magellanic Cloud [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We observed the newly discovered X-ray source Swift J053041.9-665426 in the X-ray and optical regime to confirm its proposed nature as a high mass X-ray binary.

High-throughput UAV phenotyping for plot-level harvest index estimation in wheat fields

open access: yesCurrent Plant Biology
Accurate estimation of the harvest index (HI), the ratio of grain yield to total aboveground biomass (AGB), is crucial for evaluating crop productivity and resource-use efficiency in wheat breeding programs.

A pin-based probe for electronic moisture meters to determine moisture content in a single wheat kernel

open access: yesPlant Methods
Background Optimum moisture in straw and grain at maturity is important for timely harvesting of wheat. Grain harvested at the right time has reduced chance of being affected by adverse weather conditions which is important to maintain grain quality and ...
