NORADRENALINE RELEASE IN RATS DURING PROLONGED COLD‐STRESS AND REPEATED SWIM‐STRESS [PDF]
Plasma noradrenaline concentration in rats was measured during prolonged cold‐stress and repeated swim‐stress. Cold exposure for 6 h caused a rise in plasma noradrenaline which reached a peak at 4 h. Administration of desmethylimipramine and normetanephrine to block neuronal and extraneuronal uptake of noradrenaline raised plasma noradrenaline ...

Incomplete microwave ablation (iMWA) of liver cancer triggers a biphasic progression in residual tumors. At Day 3, the microenvironment is characterized by acute inflammatory responses and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. By Day 14, a profound shift occurs toward oncogenic signal transduction and immunosuppression, marked by macrophage ...

Mutual adaptations between hosts and parasites determine stress levels in eels
Invasive parasites may severely affect their new hosts. Two invasive parasites occurring in the European eel (Anguilla anguilla) are the Asian swim bladder nematode Anguillicola crassus and the Ponto-caspian acanthocephalan Pomphorhynchus sp., which were

Forced Swimming Stress-Related Hypoalgesia:Nondependence on the Histaminergic Mechanisms [PDF]
In experiments on mice, we examined the effects of 3-min-long forced swimming sessions on indices characterizing the state of the nociceptive system. Thirty minutes after the forced swimming episode, significantly shorter (P 0.05) the intensity of forced swimming-induced hypoalgesia in the tail flick and acetic acid-induced (writhing) tests.

Targeting the EpCAM‐AXL axis to overcome drug resistance in lung cancer
Lung cancer cells often evade therapy by hijacking signaling pathways. We reveal that cleaved EpCAM (sEpCAM) stabilizes the oncogenic protein AXL, driving NF‐κB and STAT3‐mediated chemoresistance. This EpCAM‐AXL axis identifies a high‐risk patient subset with poor prognosis.

Swimming behavior indicates stress and adaptations to exercise
Introduction: Behaviors of swimming rodents are not uniform, exhibiting large variations, which may underlie the individual differences in swimming exercise-induced benefits. The study aimed to monitor individualized swimming behavior and evaluate its biological significance.

Qualia of Stress and Bodily Enregisterment in Ice Swimming [PDF]
AbstractCombining an ethnographic account of the Finnish national pastime of ice swimming and its remediation through the Wim Hof Method with an analysis of media representations, this article expands linguistic and semiotic anthropological scholarship on the enregisterment of bodily and affective qualia by looking at how practitioners of this ...
