Revisited the role of foreign aid in capital formation: experience of South Asian countries

open access: yesHumanities & Social Sciences Communications
This study contributes to the aid-development literature by examining the role of host country factors in conditioning the investment effect of foreign aid, covering a panel of six South Asian countries over the period 1990–2019.

Evolution of Symbiosis in the Game of Life: Three Characteristics of Successful Symbiotes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
In past work, we developed a computational model of the evolution of symbiotic entities (Model-S), based on Conway's Game of Life. In this article, we examine three trends that biologists have observed in the evolution of symbiotes. (1) Management: If one partner is able to control the symbiotic relation, this control can reduce conflict; thus ...

Spatio-temporal Dynamics in the Origin of Genetic Information [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica D 203 88 (2005), 2004
We study evolutionary processes induced by spatio-temporal dynamics in prebiotic evolution. Using numerical simulations we demonstrate that hypercycles emerge from complex interaction structures in multispecies systems. In this work we also find that `hypercycle hybrid' protects the hypercycle from its environment during the growth process.

Designing symbiosis [PDF]

open access: yesBioengineered Bugs, 2011
Organisms rarely live as isolated species and usually show symbiosis in nature. As natural selection is not simple in symbiosis, the establishment and development of symbiosis is still unclear. Insight can be gained by not only retracing the history of well-developed natural symbiotic relationships, but also by observing the development of nascent ...

Resilient Membranized Coacervates Formed through Spontaneous Wrapping of Heat‐Destabilized Lipid Bilayers around Coacervate Droplets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a universal way to wrap liposomes around coacervate droplets. Membrane‐enclosed coacervates form when heat‐destabilized liposomes are mixed with coacervates. Membranized coacervates (MCs) can survive pH and ionic strength fluctuations, osmotic stress, and low temperatures.

Stacking Interactions: A Supramolecular Approach to Upgrade Weak Halogen Bond Donors

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 28, Issue 70, December 15, 2022., 2022
π‐Stacking interactions turn on halogen σ‐hole in unactivated chloro‐ and bromo‐arenes which are thus enabled to function as good halogen bonding donors. Abstract The co‐crystallization of tetracyanobenzene (TCB) with haloarenes ArX provided six new co‐crystals TCB ⋅ ArX (ArX=PhCl, PhBr, 4‐MeC6H4Cl, 4‐MeC6H4Br, 4‐MeOC6H4Cl, 1,2‐Br2C6H4) which were ...

Neuropeptide Ecdysis‐Triggering Hormone and Its Receptor Mediate the Fecundity Improvement of ‘Candidatus Liberibacter Asiaticus’‐Infected Diaphorina citri Females and CLas Proliferation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In CLas‐infected D. citri, CLas lowers 20E levels initially, relieving the suppression of ETH release. The subsequent increase in ETH levels upregulates its receptor DcETHR and activates the JH signaling pathway. The signaling cascade of 20E‐ETH/ETHR‐JH along with miR‐210, targeting DcETHR, boost female fecundity in CLas+ D.

Maternal obesity and resistance to breast cancer treatments among offspring: Link to gut dysbiosis

open access: yesCancer Reports, Volume 5, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background About 50 000 new cases of cancer in the United States are attributed to obesity. The adverse effects of obesity on breast cancer may be most profound when affecting the early development; that is, in the womb of a pregnant obese mother.
