Advanced Electron Microscopy and Microcomputed Tomography Analysis of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Base Superalloys After Short‐Term Multiaxial Creep

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work studies the anisotropic behavior of circular notched tensile specimens of Ni‐base superalloy single crystals during high‐temperature tensile creep along [001], [110], and [111]. Correlative scale‐bridging imaging of specimens reveals early rupture along [110] because 1) plastic deformation proceeds faster at notch center; 2) more (brittle ...

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Gauging C on the lattice

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We discuss general aspects of charge conjugation symmetry in Euclidean lattice field theories, including its dynamical gauging. Our main focus is O(2) = U(1) ⋊ ℤ2 gauge theory, which we construct using a non-abelian generalization of the Villain ...

Homogeneous Symmetry Operators in Kerr--NUT--AdS Spacetimes

open access: yes
It is well known that the Kerr--NUT--AdS spacetimes possess hidden symmetries encoded in the so-called principal Killing--Yano tensor. In this paper, focusing on the four-dimensional case, we obtain a number of symmetry operators for scalar, vector, and ...

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

Consequences of symmetry fractionalization without 1-form global symmetries

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We study the fractionalization of 0-form global symmetries on line operators in theories without 1-form global symmetries. The projective transformation properties of line operators are renormalization group invariant, and we derive constraints which are

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Nonpoint Symmetry and Reduction of Nonlinear Evolution and Wave Type Equations

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2015
We study the symmetry reduction of nonlinear partial differential equations with two independent variables. We propose new ansätze reducing nonlinear evolution equations to system of ordinary differential equations.

Symmetry operators in computer vision

open access: yes, 1996
Symmetry plays a remarkable role in perception problems. For example, peaks of brain activity are measured in correspondence with visual patterns showing symmetry. Relevance of symmetry in vision was already noted by Köler in 1929. Here, properties of a
