The place of modern α-2-agonists in the intraoperative sedation of trauma / orthopedic patients
Modern traumatological operations have a number of features: duration, a large pool of age-related patients with low functional reserves, forced position of the body, operations are often under regional anesthesia with a conserved consciousness, which ...

Sympatholytic Effects of Diethylaminoethanol in Man.
Summary and ConclusionsDoses of diethyl-aminoethanol sufficient to produce high blood concentrations resulted in a temporary inhibition of sympathetic vasoconstrictor reflexes in man. It is suggested that the effects of the drug on arterial pressure and ventricular tachycardias are secondary to its sympatholytic action.

Micro-RNA family that modulates fibrosis and uses thereof [PDF]
The present invention relates to the identification of a microRNA family, designated miR-29a-c, that is a key regulator of fibrosis in cardiac tissue. The inventors show that members of the miR-29 family are down-regulated in the heart tissue in response

A Possible Case of Neurogenic Pulmonary Edema in a Sheep following Intracranial Surgery [PDF]
A 3-year-old female crossbred sheep weighing 64 kg was anaesthetized for intracranial surgery as a part of a research project. Premedication and induction of anesthesia were uneventful as well as tracheal intubation.

Local temperature-sensitive mechanisms are important mediators of limb tissue hyperemia in the heat-stressed human at rest and during small muscle mass exercise. [PDF]
Limb tissue and systemic blood flow increases with heat stress, but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here, we tested the hypothesis that heat stress-induced increases in limb tissue perfusion are primarily mediated by local temperature-

We investigated the acute effects of thiopental anesthesia (4 mg/100 g, i.v.) on plasma glucose, insulin, triacylglycerol, and prolactin levels in rats treated with bromocriptine (BR) (0.4 mg/100 g body wt, i.p., for two weeks).

Alpha‐2‐adrenoreceptor agonists as analgesic drugs in equine medicine
Summary Managing pain in horses is challenging despite the availability of nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs, local anaesthetics, opioids and α2‐adrenoreceptor agonists. While α2‐agonists are widely used for sedation and restraint, their analgesic properties remain underutilised.
