Extendible-energy synchrotrons [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods, 1967
Abstract Synchrotron guide-field arrangements have been developed that provide for a convinient and economical later increase in energy by the addition of components omitted in the initial construction. Criteria for the design of such an accelerator include new considerations such as emphasis on small circumference to reduce initial costs and on ...

SUPERLUMINAL SYNCHROTRON RADIATION

open access: yesResource-Efficient Technologies, 2018
To avoid complex computations based on wide Fourier expansions, the electromagnetic field of synchrotron radiation (SR) was analyzed using Lienard–Wiechert potentials in this work. The retardation equation was solved for ultrarelativistic movement of rotating charge at distances up to the trajectory radius.

In situ techniques for Li‐rechargeable battery analysis

open access: yesCarbon Energy
Reducing our carbon footprint is one of the most pressing issues facing humanity today. The technology of Li‐rechargeable batteries is permeating every corner of our lives as a result of our efforts to reduce the use of carbon energy.

The synchrotron and cyclo-synchrotron absorption cross-section [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1991
We emphasize the usefulness of the concept of a cross-section for the synchrotron and the cyclo-synchrotron absorption process. We show that the previously known relation between the cross-section and the single particle emissivity is most easily derived by applying the Einstein coefficients and their relations to a system with three energy levels ...

Spin echo in synchrotrons

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2007
As a polarized beam is accelerated through a depolarization resonance, its polarization is reduced by a well-defined calculable reduction factor. When the beam subsequently crosses a second resonance, the final beam polarization is considered to be ...

Aluminene as highly hole‐doped graphene

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
Monolayer structures made up of purely one kind of atom are fascinating. Many kinds of honeycomb systems including carbon, silicon, germanium, tin, phosphorus and arsenic have been shown to be stable.

A high-temperature furnace for multimodal synchrotron-based X-ray microscopy and diffraction imaging

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation
The design, calibration and initial application of a non-contact high-temperature furnace developed for in situ synchrotron X-ray experiments are presented. The system enables a stable operation up to 1000°C, with heating rates exceeding 6000°C min−1 and

Spin response function technique in spin-transparent synchrotrons

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2020
Small perturbative fields in a synchrotron influence both the spin and orbital motion of a stored beam. Their effect on the beam polarization consists of two contributions, a direct kick and an effect of the ring lattice due to orbit perturbation.

Crystal structure of a bacterial photoactivated adenylate cyclase determined by serial femtosecond and serial synchrotron crystallography

open access: yesIUCrJ
OaPAC is a recently discovered blue-light-using flavin adenosine dinucleotide (BLUF) photoactivated adenylate cyclase from the cyanobacterium Oscillatoria acuminata that uses adenosine triphosphate and translates the light signal into the production of ...
