Beam halo collimation in heavy ion synchrotrons

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2015
This paper presents a systematic study of the halo collimation of ion beams from proton up to uranium in synchrotrons. The projected Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research synchrotron SIS100 is used as a reference case.

A Knittable Neural‐Inspired MXene‐Aramid Fiber for Wearable High‐Fidelity Signal Transmission

open access: yesSmall Structures
Knittable conductive fibers have emerged as key components for multifunctional textiles used in energy storage, sensing, and protective wear. A persistent challenge in this field, however, is maintaining signal integrity across extended distances within ...

Complex bend: Strong-focusing magnet for low-emittance synchrotrons

open access: yesPhysical Review Accelerators and Beams, 2018
Modern synchrotron light sources are competing intensively to increase x-ray brightness and, eventually, approach the diffraction limit, which sets the final goal of lattice emittance.

Overcoming an intrinsic depolarizing resonance with a partial Siberian snake

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2004
An 11.4% partial Siberian snake was used to successfully accelerate polarized protons through a strong intrinsic depolarizing spin resonance in the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS). No noticeable depolarization was observed.

Possibility of crystal extraction and collimation in the sub-GeV range

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2007
Bent crystal situated in a circulating beam can serve for efficient slow extraction or active collimation of the beams. This technique, well established at 1–1000 GeV, could be efficient also at the energies as low as 0.1–1 GeV according to the computer ...

30 years of Journal of Synchrotron Radiation and synchrotron science

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation
Journal of Synchrotron Radiation (JSR) came into being with the publication of its inaugural issue in October 1994 that contained 15 full articles comprising 100 pages. Thirty years of JSR has coincided with several Nobel Prizes that have arisen from the work undertaken on synchrotron radiation sources, with the first of these ...

Dipole fringe field thin map for compact synchrotrons

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2015
The Lie map generator of the dipole fringe field is derived up to the 4th order of canonical variables. We discovered significant closed orbit deviation and octupolelike potential when the bending radius ρ is small.

Transverse beam instabilities in low-emittance booster synchrotrons

open access: yesPhysical Review Accelerators and Beams
As the ring-based light source community is moving toward fourth-generation light sources, many facilities plan to upgrade their boosters in parallel to meet the more demanding beam properties for the storage ring, especially in terms of a much lower ...
