Fire safety and electrical properties of mixtures of synthetic ester/mineral oil and synthetic ester/natural ester

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2018
The paper presents research results of different properties of mixtures of the synthetic ester with mineral oil and synthetic ester with natural ester. For different concentrations of both mixtures, the following properties were investigated: flash point (open and closed cup), fire point (open cup), net calorific value, breakdown voltage, relative ...

Enhancing Dielectric and Thermal Performances of Synthetic-Ester Insulating Oil via Blending With Natural Ester

IEEE transactions on dielectrics and electrical insulation, 2023
Synthetic ester and blended insulating oils have attracted widespread attention owing to their great potential on performance enhancement because of the high capacity with tailorable molecular structure and mixable components. In this work, natural ester

Assessment of Flash and Fire point Measurements in Synthetic Ester under Retrofilling Scenarios

International Conference on Development and Learning, 2022
Since being introduced 40 years ago, synthetic esters have become established as an alternative option to mineral oil in locations where enhanced fire protection measures are required.

Melting points of synthetic wax esters

Lipids, 1969
AbstractSaturated, monoenoic and dienoic wax esters, C26−C40, have been synthesized from even‐numbered fatty alcohols and acids. In homologous series of saturated esters, the increments of melting points follow a regular trend except for those esters which have an acid moiety two carbon atoms shorter than the alcohol moiety.

Evaluation of the Properties of Mixtures of Aromatic Mineral Oil and Synthetic Ester for High-Voltage Equipment

IEEE transactions on dielectrics and electrical insulation, 2021
This article discusses the possibility of enhancing the insulating characteristics of a mineral oil-based on petroleum with high aromatic hydrocarbon content (23%) by mixing it with the synthetic ester Midel 7131.
