The cyclic nucleotide-gated channels CNGC2 and CNGC4 support systemic wound responses in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
IntroductionThe local perception of a stimulus such as wounding can trigger plant-wide responses through the propagation of systemic signals including the vascular transport of diverse chemical messengers, the propagation of electrical changes, and even ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Ethylene supports colonization of plant roots by the mutualistic fungus Piriformospora indica [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The mutualistic basidiomycete Piriformospora indica colonizes roots of mono- and dicotyledonous plants, and thereby improves plant health and yield. Given the capability of P.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

The role of cytosolic RNA and DNA recognition in systemic autoimmunity and immune complex glomerulonephritis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Non-CpG-DNA and 3P-RNA activated mesangial cells to produce inflammatory cytokines and type 1 interferons in TLR-independent manner. Both ligands induced similar gene expression patterns in mesangial cells.

Signals and Systems

open access: yes
The book titled Signals and Systems provides a detailed introduction to the fundamentals of signals and systems, focusing on their classification, characteristics, and key operations. It begins with the definition of signals and systems, covering various types such as continuous-time and discrete-time signals. The text explores the different categories

Insights into hypoxic systemic responses based on analyses of transcriptional regulation in Arabidopsis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
We have adopted a hypoxic treatment system in which only roots were under hypoxic conditions. Through analyzing global transcriptional changes in both shoots and roots, we found that systemic signals may be transduced from roots to trigger responses in ...

β-D-XYLOSIDASE 4 modulates systemic immune signaling in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
Pectin- and hemicellulose-associated structures of plant cell walls participate in defense responses against pathogens of different parasitic lifestyles.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
