Complexity in cancer biology: is systems biology the answer?
Complex phenotypes emerge from the interactions of thousands of macromolecules that are organized in multimolecular complexes and interacting functional modules. In turn, modules form functional networks in health and disease.

Athena: Modular CAM/CAD Software for Synthetic Biology [PDF]
Synthetic biology is the engineering of cellular networks. It combines principles of engineering and the knowledge of biological networks to program the behavior of cells. Computational modeling techniques in conjunction with molecular biology techniques have been successful in constructing biological devices such as switches, oscillators, and gates ...

A family tree of Markov models in systems biology
Motivated by applications in systems biology, we seek a probabilistic framework based on Markov processes to represent intracellular processes. We review the formal relationships between different stochastic models referred to in the systems biology ...

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Summary: Met is an oncogene aberrantly activated in multiple cancers. Therefore, to better understand Met biology and its role in disease we applied the Mammalian Membrane Two-Hybrid (MaMTH) to generate a targeted interactome map of its interactions with

Understanding the logic of living systems requires knowledge of the mechanisms involved at the levels at which functionality is expressed. This information does not reside in the genome, nor even in the individual proteins that genes code for. No functionality is expressed at these levels.

In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.
