T-2 toxin triggers depression-like behaviors via upregulation of dopamine transporter in nucleus accumbens of male mice

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
The T-2 toxin is a frequent contaminant in the global environment and agricultural production. Existing evidence suggests that the ingested T-2 toxin can enter the brain and exhibit neurotoxicity. However, it is still unknown whether T-2 toxin causes the

TGF-β1/Smad3 Signaling Pathway Mediates T-2 Toxin-Induced Decrease of Type II Collagen in Cultured Rat Chondrocytes

open access: yesToxins, 2017
T-2 toxin can cause damage to the articular cartilage, but the molecular mechanism remains unclear. By employing the culture of rat chondrocytes, we investigated the effect of the TGF-β1/Smad3 signaling pathway on the damage to chondrocytes induced by T ...

An On-Site Simultaneous Semi-Quantification of Aflatoxin B1, Zearalenone, and T-2 Toxin in Maize- and Cereal-Based Feed via Multicolor Immunochromatographic Assay

open access: yesToxins, 2018
Multiple-mycotoxin contamination has been frequently found in the agro-food monitoring due to the coexistence of fungi. However, many determination methods focused on a single mycotoxin, highlighting the demand for on-site determination of multiple ...

Electroretinograms from Broilers Fed Aflatoxin and T-2 Toxin

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1977
Thirty chicks were fed a commercial broiler grower ration from hatching to 26 days of age. Ten birds received aflatoxin (5 microgram/g. of ration) and 10 received T-2 toxin (5 microgram/g. of ration). The remaining 10 birds served as controls. After the 26 days, electroretinograms were recorded on a graphic recorder from the anesthetized birds.

Cellular responses to T-2 toxin and/or deoxynivalenol that induce cartilage damage are not specific to chondrocytes

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The relationship between T-2 toxin and deoxynivalenol (DON) and the risk of Kashin-Beck disease is still controversial since it is poorly known about their selectivity in cartilage damage. We aimed to compare the cytotoxicity of T-2 toxin and DON on cell

T-2 toxin exposure induces ovarian damage in sows: lncRNA CUFF.253988.1 promotes cell apoptosis by inhibiting the SIRT3/PGC1α pathway

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
T-2 toxin, a mycotoxin found in foods and feeds, poses a threat to female reproductive health in both humans and animals. LncRNA CUFF.253988.1 (CUFF.253988.1), highly expressed in pigs, has an undisclosed regulatory role.

Selenomethionine alleviates T-2 toxin-induced articular chondrocyte ferroptosis via the system Xc−/GSH/GPX4 axis

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
T-2 toxin can induce bone and cartilage development disorder, and oxidative stress plays an important role in it. It is well known that selenomethionine (Se-Met) has antioxidative stress properties and promotes the repair of cartilage lesion, but it ...
