Unsupervised automatic classification of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images of CD4+ cells with varying extent of HIV virion infection [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Archiving large sets of medical or cell images in digital libraries may require ordering randomly scattered sets of image data according to specific criteria, such as the spatial extent of a specific local color or contrast content that reveals different meaningful states of a physiological structure, tissue, or cell in a certain order, indicating ...

Functional properties of a unique subset of cytotoxic CD3+ T lymphocytes that express Fc receptors for IgG (CD16/Leu-11 antigen)

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1985
A subset of peripheral blood T lymphocytes coexpressing CD3 and IgG Fc receptors (FcR) (CD16/Leu-11 antigen) have been identified, isolated, and functionally characterized.

Imine Crosslinked, Injectable, and Self‐Healing Fucoidan Hydrogel with Immunomodulatory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops an injectable fucoidan‐based hydrogel with tunable properties for tissue engineering. By oxidizing fucoidan (OFu) to introduce aldehydes, imine crosslinks are formed with amine‐containing polymers, enabling self‐healing, injectability, and long‐term stability (≥28 days). The OFu‐gelatin hydrogel demonstrated biocompatibility, immune‐

Bayesian Networks Aplied to Therapy Monitoring [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
We propose a general Bayesian network model for application in a wide class of problems of therapy monitoring. We discuss the use of stochastic simulation as a computational approach to inference on the proposed class of models. As an illustration we present an application to the monitoring of cytotoxic chemotherapy in breast cancer.

CLDN18.2 CAR‐derived Extracellular Vesicle Immunotherapy Improves Outcome in Murine Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
CLDN18.2 CAR‐T cell‐derived small extracellular vesicles (CAR‐sEVs) display potent cytotoxicity and prolong survival in preclinical pancreatic cancer models. They contain functional CAR proteins and granzyme B, exhibit antigen specificity, and effectively target tumor cells while sparing healthy cells.

Dendrimer Conjugates with PD‐L1‐Binding Peptides Enhance In Vivo Antitumor Immune Response

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this paper, a novel nanoparticle scaffold composed of dendrimers conjugated with peptide‐based immune checkpoint inhibitors, enhancing drug delivery efficacy is introduced. By conjugating PD‐L1‐binding peptides to dendrimers, multivalent binding effects are harnessed, resulting in enhanced binding affinity, prolonged half‐life, and improved ...

Geometric Adjustment of T Cell‐Sensitive Nanorobots for Enhanced Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
For the long‐term use of live dendritic cell (DC)‐based vaccines, nano bone marrow dendritic cell (BMDC) originated T cell activators (nano‐BOTs) are synthesized. The geometric properties of nanoparticles are precisely modulated, enhancing their stability and T cell activation capacity.

Balance between cell survival and death: a minimal quantitative model of tumor necrosis factor alpha cytotoxicity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha (TNF) initiates a complex series of biochemical events in the cell upon binding to its type R1 receptor (TNF-R1). Recent experimental work has unravelled the molecular regulation of the recruitment of initial signaling complexes that lead either to cell survival or death.

Immunosuppressive Formulations for Immunological Defense against Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A novel subcutaneous formulation combining alpha‐ketoglutarate, glycolysis inhibitor PFK15, and a myelin peptide reduces inflammation in a mouse TBI model. This formulation promotes regulatory immune cells, enhances autophagy, and improves motor function, suggesting its potential as a prophylactic immunosuppressive therapy to mitigate TBI‐induced ...
