Forehead, temporal augmentation and lateral browlift with Ellanse M

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Medicine
Background: Ellanse M, a polycaprolactone-based filler, is a versatile collagen stimulator used in aesthetic treatments, particularly for forehead, temporal rejuvenation and lateral brow lifting. We propose a modified forehead classification system (Type

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Mutual exclusivity and co-occurrence patterns of immune checkpoints indicate NKG2A relates to anti-PD-1 resistance in gastric cancer

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine
Background An increasing number of clinical studies have begun to explore combination strategies with immune checkpoint inhibitors, aiming to present new opportunities for overcoming anti-PD-1 treatment resistance in gastric cancer.

A near pattern-matching scheme based upon principal component analysis

open access: yes, 2014
[[abstract]]In this paper, we present an efficient heuristic near pattern-matching scheme. Based upon an important multivariate analysis technique in statistics, called the principal components analysis, we develop algorithms to generate a set of new ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The relative dependence of Spanish landscape pattern on environmental and geographical variables over time

open access: yes, 2008
The analysis of the dependence of landscape patterns on environment was carried out in order to investigate the landscape structure evolution of Spain. The underlying concept was that the dependence between landscape spatial structure and environmental ...

Complementary Analysis of Goal in Football through Notational analysis, Sequential Analysis and T-patterns detection

open access: yes, 2017
Introduction and Objective: The observation and analysis are fundamental in the study of opposing teams and the team itself, as they provide relevant information for the planning of the coaches. The purpose of this research focused on the analysis of the Barcelona team goals through techniques of notational analysis, sequential and T-patterns detection.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
