THEORY AND PRACTICE OF PARASITIC DISEASE CONTROL, 2023
A comparison was done for changes in the morphological composition of blood in hens experimentally infected with T. pseudospiralis and T. spiralis larvae at a dose of 2 larvae/g m.a., intragastrically. It was established that trichinellosis in the hens due to the parasitism of a non-encapsulated Trichinella species caused regenerative hypochromic ...

Villous atrophy and expulsion of intestinal Trichinella spiralis are mediated by T cells
Cellular Immunology, 1979Abstract The development of villous atrophy and crypt hyperplasia in, and expulsion of nematodes from, the small intestine of the mouse during Trichinella infection is shown to be mediated by T cells. During Trichinella infection, worms initially localise in the anterior half of the small intestine.

Lymphokine Production by T Cells Generated during Infection with Trichinella spiralis
International Archives of Allergy and Applied Immunology, 2009Lymphokine production by mesenteric lymph node cells (MLNC) taken from mice during infection with the intestinal nematode parasite Trichinella spiralis was investigated. Upon stimulation in vitro with a protective crude antigen preparation of the infective L1 larvae, MLNC proliferated in a specific manner, and were observed to ...

T lymphocyte dependent enteropathy in murine Trichinella spiralis infection
Parasite Immunology, 1992Summary Mice infected with Trichinella spiralis developed significant enteropathy, comprising villus atrophy, crypt hyperplasia, goblet cell hyperplasia and a decrease in intra‐epithelial lymphocyte numbers by 10 days post‐infection, when most of the parasites had been expelled from the gut.

Effect of T. spiralis infection on intestinal motor activity in the fasted state
American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 1990We sought to determine the effects of Trichinella spiralis infection on small intestinal motor activity in the fasted state in dogs and relate it to clinical symptoms during the intestinal phase of trichinosis. Motor activity was recorded by strain gauge force transducers. Infection with T.

Infections caused by Trichinella species occur throughout the world in many wild and domestic animals resulting in trichinellosis in men. In Europe, domestic pigs are predominantly infected by three Trichinella species: T. spiralis, T. britovi and T. pseudospiralis. Present methods for detection of Trichinella spp.

A comparative analysis of skeletal muscle isometric contractile characteristics was performed in vivo on the flexor muscle of mice infected 6 mo earlier with 400 larvae of Trichinella pseudospiralis, Trichinella spiralis, or Trichinella nativa. The control group consisted of age- and sex-matched uninfected mice. The mice were injected with 0.1 ml of 50%

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay examination of sera from pigs vaccinated with T. spiralis nativa infective larvae and/or challenged with T. spiralis spiralis larvae using a T. spiralis spiralis excretory-secretory antigen showed a significant cross-reaction between the two species of Trichinella.

AbstractNematodes of the genus Trichinella which infect wildlife and domestic animals show a cosmopolitan distribution. These zoonotic parasites are the aetiological agents of a severe human disease, trichinellosis. Twelve taxa are recognized in the Trichinella genus, but they cannot be identified by morphology since they are sibling species/genotypes.

The red fox (Vulpes vulpes) is considered one of the main reservoir of Trichinella spp. in Europe. As limited information on Trichinella infection in wildlife of Hungary is available, 2116 red foxes, representing more than 3% of the estimated fox population of the country, were screened to detect Trichinella larvae by a digestion method.
