Intradural angiomatous meningioma arising from a thoracic nerve root [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
BACKGROUND: Spinal intradural meningiomas that arise purely from a nerve root without dural attachments are extremely rare. Spinal meningiomas arise from arachnoidal cap cells in the spinal canal, and growth of these tumors exerts pressure on the spinal ...

Timing Mechanotransduction: Mechanically Dynamic Biomaterials Reveal the Temporal Hierarchy of YAP/TAZ Control Nodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work develops dynamically softening polyacrylamide hydrogels for time‐resolved imaging during continuous mechanical transitions. The study revealed that mechanotransduction is biphasic; YAP/TAZ inactivation is driven by early loss of the nucleocytoskeletal continuum connecting subnuclear adhesions, F‐actin, and the nuclear envelope, coupled with ...

Embedded CRISPRi Enhances Gene‐Silencing Efficiency in Drosophila

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current CRISPR interference (CRISPRi) technology in Drosophila has limited efficiency. This study introduces the emCRISPRi platform, which significantly enhances transcriptional silencing efficacy by embedding inhibitory domains within the dCas9 architecture.

The Effect of Silvernano Oral Consumption on some Hormonal, Hematological and Urine Parameters of Vistar Rats

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Qum, 2012
Background and Objectives: Silver nanoparticles with excellent antimicrobial effects and increasing consumption in different industries are the most widely used nanoparticles and so it is necessary to evaluate the safety of their use.

Newborn screening and the screening laboratory: past, present and future

open access: yesEuropean Thyroid Journal
Thyroid hormone (TH) is essential for brain development in utero and during the first 2 to 3 years of life. The negative effects of TH deficiency on brain development are irreversible.

T4 RNA Ligase 2 truncated active site mutants: improved tools for RNA analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background T4 RNA ligases 1 and 2 are useful tools for RNA analysis. Their use upstream of RNA analyses such as high-throughput RNA sequencing and microarrays has recently increased their importance.

Causal Prediction of TP53 Variant Pathogenicity Using a Perturbation‐Informed Protein Language Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A TP53‐specific predictor, CaVepP53, is developed by fine‐tuning ESMC on experimentally validated variants, quantifying pathogenicity via Euclidean distances. It outperforms general‐purpose models and extends to five cancer genes, enabling interpretable variant classification for precision medicine.

Long-term prevalence and predictors of prolonged grief disorder amongst bereaved cancer caregivers: A cohort study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Context: The short-term impact of prolonged grief disorder (PGD) following bereavement is well documented. The longer term sequelae of PGD however are poorly understood, possibly unrecognized, and may be incorrectly attributed to other mental health ...

Sphingomonas paucimobilis‐Driven Epithelial–Endothelial Transition in Adenomyosis Pathogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies epithelial–endothelial transition (EET) as a novel adenomyosis pathogenic mechanism driven by Sphingomonas paucimobilis colonization. Systematic inhibitor experiments validate a TNFα→NF‐κB→MMP signaling cascade essential for EET. Critically, bacterial culture supernatant fails to induce pathological changes, demonstrating viable ...
